Episode Summary

EDIT

Crystal Cove welcomes artist Randy Warsaw, who presents his latest work in the Art Museum, entitled "Junk." However, this latest work comes to life and attacks patrons of the museum, swallowing members of Warsaw's entourage and working staff and turning them into gold statues. The gang is asked by Mayor Nettles to solve the mystery so the Art Museum can be saved, but this becomes easier said than done as the gang are employed as part of Warsaw's exhibit, leaving Daphne to work the case alone.

    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • In this episode, it is learned that without her glasses, Velma has green eyes. This also makes her the second member of the gang to have coloured eyes (the first being Daphne).

    • QUOTES (2)

      • Randy Warsaw: Those eyes...that hair...so alien-like. I shall name you jinkies, and jinkies, you shall be my prune. (walking towards Fred) And you...so powerful... I shall name you BEEF!
        Scooby-Doo: Yummy! I like beef.
Randy Warsaw: That voice... it's anti-art, anti music... I shall name you Freako, and Freako, you shall be the lead singer of my emo art band. (walking towards Shaggy) And you, so...unstrong. You shall be a worker in Randy Warsaw's work of art.
Daphne: What about me, Mr. Warsaw!
Randy Warsaw: You... dull. Shoo, shoo, begone.
Fred: But Mr. Warsaw, don't you like her hair?
Randy Warsaw: Yes, I love that hair... on a pony.
Daphne: Nice guy... who would want to threaten his life... besides me.

      • Shaggy: Like, what's your name?
        Worker #1: Worker #1.
        Shaggy: What do you do?
Worker #1: I work, while Warsaw gets all the credit, but that is all gonna change...someday.
        Shaggy: Oookay.

    • NOTES (1)

      • From the way Fred's parents were acting towards Angel and the maps they were looking at, it seems that they did not mainly come back to Crystal Cove because they wanted to come back for Fred and to come back home, but to find the treasure. Plus, from they way things are right now, the original Mystery Incorporated is hiding something from Scooby and the gang.

    • ALLUSIONS (4)

      • A villain who turns people into living golden statues was also seen in theWhat's New, Scooby Doo?episode "Gold Paw". In both cases a chemical was used to make the victim's body appear gold-colored and catatonic.

      • The Velvet Underground

The band Sunday Around Noonish is a parody of the band The Velvet Underground while the characters of Butch Furbanks and Eeko are respectively parodies of Velvet Underground members Lou Reed and Nico.

      • Heart of Darkness

The episode's title is an allusion to the 1899 novel Heart of Darkness, written by Joseph Conrad.

      • Andy Warhol

The post-modern artist Randy Warsaw is a parody to the artist Andy Warhol.
