This episode does not advance the main plot very much, however old school HB fans should absolutely love the Dynomutt/Blue Falcon episode. I was afraid Dynomutt would be changed ( as Moby Dick the whale was turned into a submarine) but he was the same old funny, cute dog i grew up with, only a bit less clutzy. Blue Falcon as a Dark Night Returns type Batman was a fun touch as well. Scooby is the only HB property that is still popular, so i love that this show is giving some love to some ofthe great HB cartoons of the 70s and the late 60s.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • We now know that Dexter, from the show "Dexter's Laboratory" and Mystery Incorporated live in the same universe. This is because Blue Falcon and Dyno-mutt were featured in "Dyno-Might". An episode in which Blue Falcon asks Dexter to fix Dyno-mutt after he suffers a severe injury.

  • QUOTES (2)

    • Daphne: Fred, your ascots are just filthy!
Fred: Sorry, Daph. A guy living on the edge just can't afford the niceties.
Daphne: A person can't live like this. What's going to happen if someone you care about, but who's still on the fence about you, want to--I don't know--visit--by herself.
Fred: Well, uh, I suppose I could move the shark cage out of the back seat to make room. But the lizard hammock stays. I'm firm on that.
      Daphne: Ugh!!!

    • Blue Falcon: These are the computer logs from City Hall. How'd you get past the encryption?
Velma: I may not have a bird-themed utility belt and a predisposition for violence, but I do have some mad skills of my own.

  • NOTES (1)

    • Blue Falcon's line about seventeen ways to incapacitate them, all of which hurt, parodies a line from Frank Miller's Batman graphic novel, The Dark Knight Returns, "There are seven working defenses from this position: three of them disarm with minimal contact, three of them kill, one of them... hurts."

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • E.T. the Extraterrestrial

If you pay a little attention, you will notice that Velma's primitive recorder resembles the speak-n-spell phone-home transmitter used by E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, in Steven Spielberg's 1982 film with the same name, starring Henry Thomas, Robert MacNaughton, Dee Wallace, Drew Barymore and Peter Coyote.

    • The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman
Dynomutt's origin story is similar to those of Steve Austin and Jamie Sommers, the bionic characters portrayed by Lee Majors and Lindsay Wagner from their respective series, airing between 1974-78.
