  • Scooby-Doo vs. Terminator

Okay, first things first, this was the best episode in the series so far... (well, with the exception of In fear of the Phantom, where we saw the Hex Girls). Either way, this version of Terminator a la Scooby--Doo is surprisingly cool. We get a great mystery, a great fight, and let's not forget, the first appearence of Professor Pericles, who disappears after the Fright Hound torched the whole asylum. My compliments to the guys who wrote this episode, because it really is awesome, and I can't wait to see the next episode.

Only one thing against it... Shaggy picking Scooby over Velma. Okay, I know that in the end they are going to stick together, but it's still sad. 10 out of 10! Not even James Cameron could have done better.moreless
  • An awesome homage to the Terminator.

    10
After watching this episode, I think I can say this is definitely the best homage to the Terminator franchise. When a robotic double of Scooby-Doo attacks the Animal Asylum as well as some other points of the city of Crystal Cove, the Sheriff arrests Scooby, thinking that he is the culprit. Among the way to prove Scooby's innocence, the gang meets Professor Pericles, the mascot of the previous Mystery Incorporated, who's incarcerated in that asylum. He warns them that they should be careful of what they are about to face, and that they should not trust those who are closest to them, especially Fred. The series keeps getting better and better, and I can only wait to see what Pericles was really talking about.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Towards the end of the episode, in the animal asylum, while one of the guards is talking on the phone, you'll see a bear being wheeled off in the background. If you pay closer attention, you can see he's wearing the same hat and tie as a certain "smarter than average" cartoon bear.

    • The music that plays when the Fright Hound comes out of the fire in the asylum, is the same theme that plays when the T-800 appears in the first Terminator movie.

  • QUOTES (0)

  • NOTES (0)

  • ALLUSIONS (5)

    • The Silence of the Lambs

The encounter of Mystery Inc. with Professor Pericles mirrors the first encounter of the FBI Agent Clarice Starling played by Jodie Foster and serial killer and cannibal Hannibal Lecter played by Anthony Hopkins in the 1991 Academy Award film The Silence of the Lambs.

    • Aliens

The machine that Scooby uses in order to destroy the Fright Hound is very similar in design to the battle suit that Sigourney Weaver's character Ripley, from the Aliens franchise, uses to kill the Alien Queen in Aliens 2.

    • Terminator

The Fright Hound is an obvious parody to the T-800, one of the main characters from the Terminator franchise. Plus, the fighting scene against the Fright Hound mirrors the battle where Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese face the Terminator, ending up destroying it.

    • Cerebro

The cell where Professor Pericles is trapped is similar to the Cerebro room, used by Professor Xavier in the X-Men movies, X-Men and X2: X-Men United.

    • Arkham Asylum

The Crystal Cove's Animal Asylum for the Criminally Insane is an obvious parody to infamous Arkham Asylum, a mental institution and a prison, where most of Batman's enemies are incarcerated, in Gotham City. Plus, the building itself was most likely designed, bearing the visual concept of the asylum in the series The Batman.
