      • The Thing

The scene with the avocado fruit growing legs could be a reference to John Carpenter's 1982 movie The Thing, starring Kurt Russel, Keith David, Donald Moffat and Wildford Brimley.

      • X-Men

Fuhrman said he got his claws from "a school for gifted children". This is a reference toWolverine and Professor Charles Xavier's school in Marvel'sX-menfranchise.

      • The name 'Scarebear' is also a Hanna-Barbara character who is quite scared and sounds like Curly Joe of the Three Stooges.
