    9.0
This episode shows the curious facet of some peoples, who thinks everything they read is truth. Sheila Altoonian, the best friend of Nan Blake is this type of person. She read an article which described a serum to be young for ever, but it's a joke. However, she begins to stolen the ingredients she needs to prepare the serum.

At the begining, the gang don't understand but when Daphne finds the serum formula in the museum, they begin to advance the attacks of the vampire.

Finally, it's revealed that Sheila is the culprit. She wanted to be young like Nan Blake, who has the same age but looks more young. Here it's when the episode is interesting. It teaches us about the envy, which may be stupid for old people but for kids it's an important lesson.

In adition, we can find more aspects in this episode. On the hand, the gang works alone (boys with boys, girl with girl) due to the problems but they must join forces to capture the vampire. In the other hand, at the end of the episode, a man is watching the gang take separate ways with binoculars. This fact gives a bit of mystery to the episode and causes the desire to see the next episode.

According this, the episode is one the best I have seen. 9 of 10 is a just note.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • A Fiji Mermaid is on display at the Oddity Museum.

    • If you pay attention during the auction, you can see the singer Mama Cass Eliot, member of the famous band The Mamas & the Papas in the front row, who paired up with the Mystery Inc. in the episode "The Haunted Candy Factory" of the series The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries.

  • QUOTES (0)

  • NOTES (1)

    • The episode also pays homage to the Scooby-Doo & Scrappy-Doo episode "I Left My Neck in San Francisco" where the gang suspects that Daphne might be a vampire, due to the fact that this one resembles her, and because she had a cold, and kept disappearing every time the vampire appeared.

  • ALLUSIONS (4)

    • Dead Alive

When Angie Dinkley tries to order Sumatran rat-monkeys, through the phone, this is an obvious reference to the 1992 horror movie Dead Alive.

    • Dracula

Velma's mother says they have more vampire literature than anywhere "this side of the Carpathian Mountains." This is where Dracula's home is at the beginning of Bram Stoker's novel.

    • The Devil's Eye

The name of the ruby, The Devil's Eye, is most likely a parody to the diamond with the same name in the Walt Disney animated movie The Rescuers, which Madame Medusa and her business partner, Mr. Snoops, are after.

    • The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

The restaurant which Scooby and the gang visit in order to find the rare wine is called "The Crab Net of Dr. Calimari," which is a parody to the 1920 German silent movie The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.
