The Crystal Cove Haunted Historical Society performs reenactments of Crystal Cove history every year. During a rehearsal for this year's production, a specter resembling one of the props scares off the cast and crew members. Vincent Van Ghoul, called upon to take over production, finds the set destroyed and calls in Mystery Incorporated, who become the new cast and crew for the play.

George Avocados mentions how the gang is responsible for destroying his ranch, which happens back in "Scarebear".
It is revealed through a flashback that it was Friar Serra who placed the 4th piece of the Planispheric Disk inside the wheel of cheese that was in the hands of Gene Shepherd, the owner of the Travelling Cabinet of Curiosities.
Friar Serra: Beware, Nibiru is coming. This all happen before, it begins with the animal. Always the animal. Heed the warning of the alligators! The Dog Dies! (Friar Serra's corpse crumbles to dust)
Scooby-Doo: The dog dies, is he talking about me?!
This episode reveals that the diamond stolen by Theodore Avocados was never recovered, in spite of what Mayor Jones said in the end of the episode The Secret Of The Ghost Rig, that its recovery would make up for the revenue stream lost because of the exposure of the Ghost Truck as a fake. A possible reason for this happening, was that he was most likely lying for his own political advantage, since they did not find the diamond.
The flashback shows Porto pushing barrels marked "TNT," into the caves. This is an anachronism since that explosive was only invented in the end of 19th century.
This marks thesecondappearence ofVincent Van Ghoul in person in this series.
Vincent Van Ghoul's introduction to the theater production of Crystal Cove's history was in the same tone of Vincent Price's "rap" in Michael Jackson's Thriller video.
