Episode Summary

EDIT

The Crystal Cove Haunted Historical Society performs reenactments of Crystal Cove history every year. During a rehearsal for this year's production, a specter resembling one of the props scares off the cast and crew members. Vincent Van Ghoul, called upon to take over production, finds the set destroyed and calls in Mystery Incorporated, who become the new cast and crew for the play.

  • Heed my warning... this episode is really creepy!

Hey everyone! It's been a couple of months since I last reviewed one of the episodes of this series, so let's get started, shall we?

When I saw the title of this episode I was thinking that the gang was going to investigate a mystery regarding something similar to the Phantom of the Opera. But then, as I watched it I knew something was bound to happen. Seeing Vincent Van Ghoul in person once again is always a pleasure, especially when he helps the gang solve a mystery. Retelling the legend of Crystal Cove's earthquake was an awesome thing to do, especially with Shaggy and Scooby as lead characters.

I wasn't surprised by the culprit, since Avocados was one of those characters that you know it will become a villain sooner or later. What surprised me was to find out that the gang fought against a fake ghost, and a real ghost! I was totally blown away when we see that there's a real ghost and its the ghost of Friar Serra warning them about what will happen, but most importantly, to tell them what really happened, regarding the earthquake (which was not an earthquake but an explosion caused by gunpowder) which sent half of Crystal Cove onto the bottom of the ocean. But the most frightening part was when he told them that all of that happened before and that in order to stop Nibiru from happening, Scooby must die, just before he crumbles into dust in front of their very eyes.... creepy ans worthy of a spooky and sinister 10.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • George Avocados mentions how the gang is responsible for destroying his ranch, which happens back in "Scarebear".

    • It is revealed through a flashback that it was Friar Serra who placed the 4th piece of the Planispheric Disk inside the wheel of cheese that was in the hands of Gene Shepherd, the owner of the Travelling Cabinet of Curiosities.

  • QUOTES (1)

    • Friar Serra: Beware, Nibiru is coming. This all happen before, it begins with the animal. Always the animal. Heed the warning of the alligators! The Dog Dies! (Friar Serra's corpse crumbles to dust)
Scooby-Doo: The dog dies, is he talking about me?!

  • NOTES (3)

    • This episode reveals that the diamond stolen by Theodore Avocados was never recovered, in spite of what Mayor Jones said in the end of the episode The Secret Of The Ghost Rig, that its recovery would make up for the revenue stream lost because of the exposure of the Ghost Truck as a fake. A possible reason for this happening, was that he was most likely lying for his own political advantage, since they did not find the diamond.

    • The flashback shows Porto pushing barrels marked "TNT," into the caves. This is an anachronism since that explosive was only invented in the end of 19th century.

    • This marks thesecondappearence ofVincent Van Ghoul in person in this series.

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Vincent Van Ghoul's introduction to the theater production of Crystal Cove's history was in the same tone of Vincent Price's "rap" in Michael Jackson's Thriller video.
