While on vacation in Paris, Fred, Daphne and Velma await Shaggy and Scooby, who have been detoured to the Himalayas by an adventurer looking for a Yeti--the Abominable Snowman. A soldier of fortune gets involved, looking for the mythical Shangri-La.

In the near forty years that Scooby Doo has been on, it would seem natural that they'd begin recycling old monsters, and sure enough here they revive the Yeti--which was done in 1969 as "That's Snow Ghost" and in 1972 as "Scooby Doo Meets Laurel & Hardy." Imitation is surely the most sincere form of television.

But the animators at Warner Bros. (who have been making made-for-TV Scooby animated movies the last ten years) take such artistic laziness and put a creative spin on it. The gang's holiday in Paris turning into another busman's holiday is a wonderful bit of character chemistry (and Velma looked cute in a beret), while the gist of the storyline (search for Shangri-La, said Yeti) and set pieces was very original and nicely animated. All this comes crashing down with a climax that made the Scrappy Doo episodes look like Rocky & Bullwinkle. The sky above for this series of movie was surely the climax of "Where's My Mummy?" (2005). "Chill Out, Scooby Doo's'" climax (if you haven't seen it, I won't spoil it) is the mud below.moreless
