Scooby Doo, Where Are You! had a longer run, most of it in reruns. There were 17 episodes in its first season (1969-70), eight new episodes in season 2 (1970-71) plus repeats from the first, and then all repeats in the 1971-72 season. It was shelved for two years when The New Scooby Doo Movies came about on CBS and that ran for two years. For fall of 1974, CBS had Scooby Doo, Where Are You! on the schedule. Hanna-Barbera wanted to make new episodes for the 1974 season, but CBS felt they could get just as much mileage out of repeats of the first two seasons.

Sixteen new episodes of Scooby were made in 1978 for ABC (where Scooby moved to in 1976) and have been considered as the unofficial third season of Scooby Doo, Where Are You! (with a number of episodes animated in Spain).

Repeats of the first two seasons aired from 1976-77 on ABC (as part of the expandedScooby Doo/Dynomutt Show and Laff-A-Lympics), 1979-80 (part of the expanded Scooby & Scrappy Doo show) and in 1981 (as Scooby Doo Classics, which ran for four weeks until the delayed Laverne & Shirley cartoon was ready). The most recent network run was on WB from 2002 to 2004.

It does need more episodes but there's nothing we can do now.

Hey old message sure but still i should tell you no one thought it would work because of the major ammount of tweaking that was done. And back in the day when a show was ordered for a number of episodes they might not renew unless it's a major success and while scooby brought in money ratings dropped fast.

Yeah well it was revied by the success of scooby doos character as the scooby doo show which if you ask me is terrible and I view scooby as part of the reason the franchise has so many issues. If his character could have stayed miner they could have worked with more horror elements and stuff the possiblities were endless but parents and kids ate up scooby.

Funny, since the title of the brand is Scooby Doo, which means that the dog is--in large part--the star.
