  • A Complete Creepy Classic!

I would probably say that this is the creepiest episode of all two seasons of "Scooby-Doo Where are You!" Haunted Isle is the Setting which has an Ancient castle on it named after "Vasquez the Pirate" The Plot of this episode was very simple but made perfect sense, (for a change) the ghost was so simple but so effective because it was actually pretty creepy. There is a few episodes in the series that I never tire of watching and this is one of them. It just has a real classic feel to it from the first minute and is very enjoyable. I will admit that some of the Villains trick and illusions were slightly obscure but still very intriguing. This is a Fantastic episode and is one of my favorites 9/10 :Dmoreless

  • In my top ten for sure.

The basic plot of this episode is, " While sailing, with Scooby and Shaggy at the head, the gang collides with a mysterious ship that has no crew. This soon leads them to an island. On this island, there is a warning to leave, but the gang decides not to, and they come face-to-face with a dangerous phantom".

I should point out that this was the first episode of Scooby Doo not to have any suspects in it and it was not the last. (Who's afraid of the big bad werewolf.) I like this episode a lot, a small improvement over a clue for Scooby doo, but still good none the less.moreless
  • A Favorite episode.

Captain Cutler is my favorite Scooby Doo monster or ghost

,and this episode is my favorite episode. Except, where are all the other Scooby Doo episodes? If you go to you

can see that there are some other episodes of Scooby Doo, Where are you episodes that may have missed. I also like The Tar Monster episode. I don't see that listed anywhere on I really wish they'd have all the other Scooby Doo, Where are you episodes. Anyways, this episode is great. I liked how Captain Cutler's ghost looked. He was pretty scary looking. Not many of the cartoons back then looked scary. Especially in the 60's.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • When Scooby covers the others in sand before showing them the map, their order is Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, then Fred. The next moment they are totally uncovered from the sand and their order is Shaggy, Fred, Velma, then Daphne.

    • How was Bluestone able to get untied? Was it magic, or an error by the animators? While that the gang and the policeman are discussing the case, Bluestone is tied up. Then, after he is asked how he was able to "walk through walls", all of a sudden he is untied and offers to show them how he appeared to walk through wall, and no one seems surprised that he is untied. (Response: You may want to take another look at that scene. When Fred and the gang ask about how Bluestone walked through the walls, Bluestone actually asks Fred to hold the rope he was tied up in before showing the trick. Thus like all good magicians, Bluestone was able to get out of the ropes on his own, and was no error on the part of the animators. It was a subtle, yet nicely timed gag.)

    • In the begining when Daphne and Fred are looking from behind the rock, Velma's voice comes out of Daphne's mouth.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Velma: There's a very logical explanation for all this.
      Shaggy: Quick, tell me.
      Velma: The place is haunted.

    • Daphne: You sure picked a spooky day to go boating, Freddy.
Fred: Well it didn't start out that way. What could've happened?
Velma: It's very simple. When the barometric pressure dropped and the warm offshore air came in contact with an inland cold front we ran into some unnavigable nucleation.
Fred: You're right, Velma. Whatever you said.
Velma: I said we're lost in the fog.

    • Shaggy: Why don't we take that phantom man's advice and clear outta this place?
      Scooby: Reah, Reah, Reah!
Fred: No Shag, we're not going.
      Shaggy: Like, why not?
Fred: Three good reasons, Shaggy. First, no phantom's going to scare us away. Second, why does he want us off this island so bad? And third, we're marooned.
Shaggy: I'll buy that last one.

    • Shaggy: I gotta hand it to you, Fred. You really do know how to build a better mousetrap.

    • Phantom: I warned you to leave the island and now you will pay!
Shaggy: I'll pay! I'll pay! How 'bout four bits?

    • (after finding a message in a bottle)
Fred: Well, what does it say?
      Shaggy: No deposit. No return.
