  • CLASSIC!

This for me was the best episode of "Scooby-Doo Where are You!" when I was young. I do not believe it is now but it is still a complete joy to watch. The Plot was pretty bare if I'm honest but when you get really into the episode, the plot gets forgotten about. The Setting was a real Surprise. A Farm. Not exactly a perfect place for a haunting but it certainly done the trick in this ep. The Ghost - "The Creeper" was obviously classic, it was and still is the most recognisable ghost of Scooby-Doo. Everything about him was epic, he is by far my favorite monster/ghost of Season 2. This will always be a Great Episode. It does not have all the ingredients to be an epic but it is very, very enjoyable! 9/10 :Dmoreless
  • The Best Episode of Scooby Doo there is!

I think this is the best episode of Scooby Doo EVER! I love the song that plays when the Creeper is chasing everybody, and I love the whole plot of the episode in general. Even when I was little, I would always love this episode. I recall when my cousin and I were riding in the car a few years ago I started singing Daydreamin' and didn't really know the words, so we made up a new version. I believe it turned out with so I got married to a goat or something to that affect. Anyway, all I can say is that this is one special episode!moreless

A man is driving along a country road and he sees a tree in the middle of the road. When he begins to move it, a green monster appears. Meanwhile, the gang is excited thinking about a dance that is being held in an old barn that they are on their way to. Scooby is getting ready in the back when they see a man lying in the road. He is unconscious and his car's interior is totally torn up. He wakes up for a second and is able to say only that 'the flame will tell the Creeper.' He also gives the gang a blank piece of paper. They brought the bank guard to the bank's owner Mr. Carswell at his house since he lives nearby. They ask him what the Creeper is and they say he is a phantom who has been robbing his bank lately. They go to the dance and are having fun, when the lights go out. They decide that they'll all meet at the local malt shop. Shaggy and Scooby are about to finish cleaning up when they spot the Creeper. They run away and meet Velma. She is still waiting for them and is mad when they come and knock her glasses off and hide in a bale of hay nearby. Daphne and Fred come out and see the Creeper and run and hide with Shaggy and Scooby. Velma finally finds her glasses and puts them on just in time to see the Creeper right in front of her. She runs when she sees it and meets the gang in the bale of hay. They run from it and manage to keep the paper away from the Creeper which is why the Creeper seems to be following them. They are about to get away in a wagon when it breaks free from the horses. Shaggy and Scooby go one way and the rest of the gang go the other way. Scooby and Shaggy hide in a chicken coop and a chick hatches and thinks that Scooby is his mother. They go in search of the rest of the gang.

Meanwhile, the rest of the gang wonder exactly why the Creeper wants the blank piece of paper so much. They find a car hidden in the bushes with torn up negatives in it. Scooby and Shaggy are trying to get rid of the little chick that Scooby picked up when the Creeper comes after them again. They hide behind a bush, but the little chick gives them away. Scooby kicks the monster in the knee and they run away.

The rest of the gang hear someone coming, and they jump them. It turns out to be Scooby and Shaggy and they see tracks that are probably the Creeper's. They follow the tracks and it leads them to a gorge. They find ropes leading across the gorge, but the planks that are supposed to rest on the ropes are rolled up. Scooby gets across the bridge and unrolls the planks. An old hermit welcomes them to the cave. He introduces himself as the Hermit of the Hills. He wants them to stay awhile, but Shaggy and Scooby don't want to. Velma thinks he is the Creeper, but Fred and Daphne aren't too sure. When the Hermit gets angry they all run. They decide to go for the Sheriff and get to the Mystery Machine only to see the Creeper in their van. They run back to the barn and the Creeper continues to try to get the piece of paper. After a long chase, Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, Velma, and the Creeper fall into a machine that makes bales of hay. Scooby presses the button to turn it on and they capture the Creeper in a bale of hay. It turns out to be Mr. Carlswell, the bank president. Carswell had been robbing the bank everyday before he left work, since he was the last to leave. Later in the evening he would make it appear the Creeper was robbing the bank. The guard had installed a video camera to catch who was robbing the bank so often. This is why the Creeper/Carswell had wanted the blank piece of paper so much. It showed him robbing the bank. Velma put a flame to the paper and a picture developed on the blank picture. The gang is in the Mystery Machine on it's way to the malt shop, when Shaggy sees that the chick is still in the car with Scooby. When he goes to put the chick back, five more chicks hatch and they think Scooby is their mother. The gang laughs as Scooby smiles.moreless

The best episode of season 2!

This one is so great because it doesn't take place at the scene of the crime like other episodes usually do. Plus they focus on more than just the crime. The dance and Scooby's chick add a fun setting/ side plot. It's also good to finally see Shaggy eating something covered in chocolate syrup instead of only talking about it.

My only problem with this episode was that Daphne and Fred stand right behind Velma when she can't find her glasses and neither of them help her. What's with that?

The best parts would have to be the ones with Scooby's chick when it thinks it is a dog. If only the chick could be a regular!moreless

    • Velma is seen bending down and looking for her glasses, which are a few inches away from her, after Shaggy and Scooby literally bump into her. Fred and Daphne, who are standing near her, and had to have seen the glasses, don't even tell her where the glasses are located.

    • Mr. Karswell: Blasted meddling kids!

    • (the Hermit lets Shaggy have a taste of what is boiling in the pot)
      Shaggy: Yuck! What is it?
Hermit: Why it's the specialty of the cave. Squirrel stew with pickleback wings and crabgrass roots. Here have some more.
      Shaggy: Uhhhh, I'm on a squirrel-free diet.
      Scooby: Me too.

    • Fred: (referring to the Hermit) What do you think, girls? He doesn't look like the Creeper.
      Daphne: He looks worse!

    • Daphne: We've got 'em! We've got the Creeper!

  • NOTES (9)

    • In the Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated episode 'The Legend of Alice May', the gang unmasks a monster whose really identity was 'revealed' as the daughter of Mr. Carswell but it's later revealed to the viewers that she just pretended as part of a bigger plan and that Mr. Carswell doesn't have any daughters.

    • The Creeper was stated to appear in Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, but he was replaced by the Zombie.

    • This is the first Scooby-Doo episode ever to have the villain call the gang 'meddling kids'.

    • The Creeper appears in Scooby Doo Night of 100 Frights.

    • The Creeper appears in Scooby Doo and the Cyber Chase.

    • Villian: Mr. Karswell, the bank president.
Reason: He was stealing money from the bank.

    • When ABC reran this episode from 1977 through 1984, the censors cut out a quick scene (during the chase song) in which Shaggy, Scooby and the Creeper each step on a rake that springs up and whacks them in the faces.

    • Syndication shows this episode after the following episode.

    • The song Daydreamin' (a.k.a. I'm in Love with an Ostrich), which is featured in this episode, appears on the album Scooby-Doo's Snack Tracks: The Ultimate Collection.
