  • The Mystery Inc. Gang Solves Their First Mystery in the Beginning of One of the Most Classic Cartoons in the History of Cartoons!

In the first episode, The Mystery Inc. gang investigates the disappearance of a British professor that was delivering a black knight to a local museum. The gang then leans that the armor can come to life under a full moon. It's not perfect, which is usual for a pilot episode, as some of the humor isn't really that funny, but I enjoyed seeing the introductions of these memorable characters. Plus the Black Knight ghost is pretty awesome!
  • Classic! but not one of my favorites.

This episode, which was the first of "Scooby-Doo Where are You!", is definitely a classic. This being said, it is not one of my favorite episodes of the series. It has a reasonable plot, a reasonable location and a pretty good Monster! but there is just something lacking in it. I do take into consideration that it was the pilot episode and was never going to be the best but I would maybe go as far as to say that is is my most unfavorable episode of the whole series...but I am not quite sure. It is quite a creepy episode and has an eerie atmosphere to it (more so than most other episodes) but even with that I think that it does not match most others. The Villain behind it all is slightly ridiculous and the beginning is quite boring but it is the First of the whole show and is therefor a Classic!! 6.5/10 :D

  • The first episode in a great series

This is the episode that started it all. Scooby and the team are faced with a mystery involving a knight. A professor ofArchaeology Jameson Hyde Whitedisappears during the transportation of a suit of knightly armour to the County Museum. According to legend this knight comes alive during full moons. The Scooby Doo team meet with Mr.Wickles who is the curator of the museum and come to the conclusion that there is something fishy going on. They get into the museum at night through an open window and begin investigating. After awhile they stumble across a room with copies of famous paintings being made. Scooby Doo and Shaggy manage to take down the Black Knight in an old school airplane, the mystery is solved. Mr.Wickles was making fake copies of the paintings to get rich. The gang locates the missing professor tied up inside one of the museums attractions. An excellent start to a great series.

  • well done

Great Fun! This being the first televised
episode of what would become a much beloved and long lived animated feature, is indicative of why it lasted so long. Scooby, the dog is adorable and adds the perfect comic relief to the gang's adventures into some frightening places. Great animation and a nice spectrum of personalities among the group; handsome and level-headed Freddy, pretty and sensitive Daphne, brainy Velma, spaced out Shaggy and goofy, "scaredy cat" Scooby. Hanna and Barbera at their best. Loved it to the very end of the episode well writian for the time, and one of the best to start of with. well done
  • It was okay

While walking home from the movies, Shaggy and Scooby come upon a abandoned truck with a mysterious suit of black armor inside. They summon up the rest of the gang and examine the scene: an empty crate that is labeled property of Jameson Hyde White, Professor of Archaeology, England, and a delivery slip directing the contents to the county museum. The gang delivers the contents to the county museum, where the curator, Mr. Wickles, tells them about the legend of the Black Knight, who comes to life on nights when the moon is full. However, he can't explain the disappearance of Professor Hyde White. While Scooby is snooping around the museum, he find a pair of odd-looking spectacles. After research at the library, these odd-looking spectacles are a type of magnifying glass made in England and used by archaeologists. Deciding that something is going on at the museum, the gang returns to the museum that night. Shaggy breaks in through an upper window. as he goes to let the others in, eyes in an Indian effigy watch him. The gang splits up. The moon is once again full and the Black Knight is roaming the halls. He threatens an oblivious Velma (who near-sightedly mistakes him for Shaggy) and menaces Scooby after he takes an interest in the dinosaur exhibit. After escaping the Knight, Scooby and Shaggy notice that there is a painting missing from the walls, though it has returned by the time they fetch the others. Daphne notices a trail of paint which leads them to a mummy case. Opening the case, they find a secret room in which museum paintings are being duplicated. When they decide to fetch the police, the Knight shows up. The gang flees into the relic room, where Scooby and Shaggy hide in a World War I biplane. Shaggy tries to trick the Black Knight into leaving by using his ventriloquism, and it nearly works. Unfortunately, Scooby accidentally turns the plane's engine on. The ensuing chase and crash knocks out the Black Knight, who is revealed to be Mr. Wickles. It is revealed that Wickles and a gang of forgers had been making fakes of the paintings in the museum collection and stealing the originals. Wickles had crept into the suit of the Black Knight and kidnapped Hyde White, the only person who could have spotted the fakes. Scooby catches Hyde White's scent and leads them to the Indian effigy, inside of which they find the archaeologist gagged and tied up.
  • this was a good ep i thought

in this ep of scooby doo shaggy discovers a vehical that is off the road and its abandoned and it has a big black suit of armor and the gang must figure it out and how the black suit of armor is coming to life and were is the missing guy they learn that some of the aritfact and paintings are being taking and people are forging them as fakes. this was a good ep and a good way to begin the scooby doo franchise and it laugched its way to being on of the best cartoons from the 1960s
  • The first episode of Scooby Doo and a classic.

This is the first episode Scooby Doo I ever saw and in my opinion is one of the best episodes of the series but that is no shock because it is also the first episode. The opening a man in a car is driving a truck, he doesn't notice it but the black knight he has in the box has come out and is looking straight at him. Then it skips to Shagg and Scoob who are walking home from the movies, when they notices the same truck, they look inside and there is nothing there except for a black knight suit. They inform the gang of what they found. The gang, decide to return the black knight. Mr. Wickles the museum currator tells them of the legend of the black knight. When the moon is full the black knight is suppose to come to life. While driving back the gang notices that Scooby is wearing a funny pair of glasses. The gang decides to go to the library to learn where these glasses come from and learn that these glasses are found only in england. Believing that something must being going on the museum, the gang find themselves in another mystery. Great first episode.
  • In my opinion, best episode of the series.

I've had this episode on video since I was a kid. Over the years, the tape's practically been worn down from a petulant three year old watching the same episode over and over and over...

It's a great episode! Full of laughs, and wildly ridiculous stunts - the plane flying around the museum - make it a seriously interesting episode!

  • Are you superstitious?

On their way home from the movie theater, Scooby and Shaggy come across an abandoned delivery truck with a suit of armor, meant for a museum exhibit, in the driver's seat, and the professor who was traveling with it gone. Sensing that it might have ended up this way suspciously, they go and get Freddy, Daphnie, and Velma and come back to investigate.

When they see a delvery list that says where the armor is going, they bring it to the county museum and find out from the curator that the suit of armor comes to life at the full moon and tells them that he wished they didn't bring it there, since Professor Hyde-White is gone. As the gang get ready to leave, Scooby grabs a pair of glasses and takes them with him when they leave. When the gang finds the glasses on the dog's head, they go to the library to research the glasses and find that the glasses are found only in England, where the suit of armor was shipped from, causing the gang to go back to the museum to investigate what's going on.

While there, they see that the superstition is true, that the Black Knight (the suit of armor), does come to life, and starts to chase them when they find that there are paintings that are copied, and the originals are being sold. The mystery is then solved when the curator dresses up as the Black Knight trying to scare the kids off. Scooby and the gang then find out that the curator made the Professor disappear, because he would have found that he was committing fraud by stealing the pieces of art and putting phonies up in their place.

In all, I found this to be a good first episode to the series. I like how Scooby, Shaggy, and the rest solved the mystery of the suit of Armor and its so-called "Black Knight" legend.
