  • This episode is revealing because it actually reveals you how was ''Sealab 2020'' like.

    8.0
This episode is actually a Sealab 2020 episode edited to fit the Sealab 2021 time slot and dubbed by the Sealab 2021 crew. Watch it if you want to know more about Sealab 2020. The episode is about a submarine crashing near the Sealab and the Sealab crew tryingto stop the submarine from hurting the sea enviroment. I like this episode becuase everyone acts....good and smart. :O

I can see what they were thinking about this episode... It's funny inasmuch as it makes all the other episodes funnier by showing how much funnier 2021 is than the old Hanna Barbera style action cartoons, but as a standalone episode, its not what you would be expecting from a nonsensical, parodical style of comedy cartoon.

You keep expecting the joke to come, you keep thinking all the seriousness is just a big buildup, but nope, you realize that its just a straight rehash of a Sealab 2020 episode. Funny as a concept, maybe, but a little too postmodern, and definitely not what you would have tuned in to adult swim to have seen.

Harvey Birdman made do with short flashback clips to the old Birdman action show to accomplish the same, they didnt need to give a whole episode to it. Venture Brothers didnt need to do a whole Jonny Quest-style episode. 7211 was unnecessary.

You get the feeling that the production team was probably laughing it up in the studio when this aired, and that the episode was more for them, and the few people that might appreciate the subtlety and artistry of their joke, than the viewers at large.moreless

    • This episode is basically Sealab's 2020 episode 7211 "Collision of the Aquarius", only dubbed by the cast of Sealab 2021, and edited so that it will fit into the 11 minute model that all of Sealab 2021's episodes are in. The only footage added in (besides the opening and closing credits) was a title card in the middle of the episode that said "Place Commercial Here".

    • Postponed from December 1st 2002. Rumor has it, that Cartoon Network got confused by the fact that "Policy" was originally scheduled to air this date, and "7211" earlier, and got the tapes mixed up. Whoopsie!
