Stormy: If we light ourselves on fire, we can go anywhere!
Shanks: We need something to distract them [the Chupacabra].
Sparks: Fling Virjay's corpse over there!
Shanks: That ain't Christian!
Sparks: Neither was Virjay.
(everyone laughs)
Shanks: Oh, I forgot to mention, Happy Fun-time Island is home to the world's largest population of tree cobras.
Quinn: Happy Fun-time! Who the hell named this place?!
Shanks: Rambo.
Both the TV and the cooler at the campsite are marked "Property of Spacelab"
There are five (5) members of the Legendary Society of Men:
The German Kriegsmarine Captain
The Frenchman
Monster Hesh
Quetzalcoatl
and Huck Finn
This episode was making fun of the three horror movies, Chupacabra, Dagon, and the Guardian.
The Legendary Society of Men is a spoof of the movie The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Huck Finn is a parody of the character Tom Sawyer.
Not all of Sealab is on the island, the jerks from pod six, the chef from "I, Robot", Most of Black Debbie's Class, and the reactor crew (except for Hesh) seem to have stayed at home
There is a Grizzlebee's advert in this episode
The office scene uses the same background that has been used every time someone call interpol, but the peaking man does not appear once over the walls of the cubicale
In this episode Dolphin boy's translated text has a transparent black box around it, in all other episodes it doesn't
This episode takes place entirely outside Sealab.
Chupacabra is Spanish for Goatsucker, and is supposedly found in Mexico
The Frenchman ends a lot of his sentances with "womb" in a nod to how overuseded it was in "happy cake"
The German is carrying the same gun he had in Frozen Dinner
Marco is not seen in this episode.
All the things on happy fun time island,Chupacabras, talking snakes, talking trees, and giant crabs.
The four "real men" are: The German from "Frozen Dinner", The Frenchman from "Happy Cake", Monster Hesh from various episodes, and for seeming no reason other than to have a clearly speaking person aboard: Huck Finn.
Virjay: I hope you all blow out your collective flip-flops and step on pop-tops.
A quote from the Jimmy Buffet song "Margaritaville".
Stormy: Pie chart
The pie chart Stormy has which shows has a pie from the future can not exist in the past has three items: a pie, a wormhole and the flux capacitor which made time travel possible in the movie, Back to the Future
na: na
A spoof of the Graphic Novel The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill in which characters from classic literature fight evil.
Teamwork Video: Red Swingline Stapler
Ahh, the Swingline Red Stapler. Sleek nad elegant. Actually, it's one of Swinline's "classic" looking models (with a reto look to it).
In the movie "Office Space," there is a red Swingline stapler that keeps appearing. In a side story in the movie, an obnoxious boss steals it from a poor quiet employee, and as a result the employee tries to get it back. This all culminates to a funny ending to the movie.
In this episode of Sealab, the stapler is used as a running gag throughout the episode, constantly being stabbed into someone's eye. The "teamwork video," which makes little sense, even sort of parodies the movie "Office Space" with 2 hapless coworkers chatting, and one of them sabbing him in the eye for borrowing it without asking.
An interesting fact, Swingline never made a red stapler like the one shown in the movie "Office Space," it was in fact painted red by the props crew to make it stand out more. The movie, being an icon to all cubicle-dwelling workers, became a big cult hit. As a result, Swingline started getting tons and tons of phonecalls asking if they could sell or supply them. Some online stores even started painting them red themselves and selling them on the 'net. Finally, Swingline saw the light and released an official "Red Swingline Stapler."
tree cobra: I was once a man!
After being exposed to the spores introduced by the Cobra-La, Cobra Commander begins to transform into a snake. While being carried by Roadblock to safety, Cobra Commander breaks down saying "I was once a man. A man!"
