  • Possibly the smartest episode Sealab 2021 ever made.

It's a shame that there are no writing credits for this episode because it is in my opinion, the finest episode produced from 7030. Sealab 2021 is best known for its random humor and occasional pointlessness/stupidity, but for those who doubt the ability of the writers, this episode displays clever satire and parody using the Cold War and the Russian Revolution as a vehicle.

For those who have an interest in history comedies, this will deliver flawlessly.moreless

  • NOTES (9)

    • The poster with Debbie wearing a cloth on her head is from the poster of the woman who shows her arm muscle and says "We can do it!" use during World War II.

    • President Kennedy: The next sound you'll hear will be a high pitched squeal...
This is a reference to the movie "Fail Safe" starring Henry Fonda. Released the same year, "Fail Safe" is essentially a dramatic version of "Dr. Strangelove." Henry Fonda plays the president, and informs the Soviets and the soon-to-be-dead US Ambassador to Russia that, "the next sound you'll hear will be a high-pitched squeal. That'll be the sound of the ambassador's phone melting..."

    • Dr. Quinn: Napoleon? As in "Animal Farm"?
"Animal Farm" is a famous novel by George Orwell that, as Quinn notes, uses animals to tell an allegory criticizing Soviet Russia. Napoleon is one of the main characters, a pig who takes control of Animal Farm and becomes a petty dictator.

    • ?: ?
This whole episode of sealab is a parody of the classic black and white film Failsafe.

In the White House situation room, a monitor reads "WOULD YOU LIKE TO PLAY A GAME?", a reference to the movie "WarGames."

    • None: None
A computer monitor displays falling code as in the movie "The Matrix."

    • ?: ?
Quin rides the bomb on it's decent towards the earth as seen in the movie Dr. Strangelove
