  • This episode marked the final appearace of Captain Bridger and wasn't one of the better episodes created for this show.

    8.1
The epsiode while smartly written for the most part didn't stick with any of the previous information given to viewers. It contradicted itself at every turn from Ford wearing a UEO uniform in flashbacks before the UEO even exsisted to the suggestion that these experiemtns happed after the UN resolution on Genetic Engineering. Accoriding to another episode only a handful of daggers survived and those that did were placed in jail.

The torture of the Dagger, Matt occured 30 years ago so that would make it in 2002 and the UEO never exsisted at that point to be able to do these experiments.

Continuity issues aside though it was a good episode that gave veiwers a rememberance of the good days with Bridger and Scheider. It also showed the evolution of the relationship between Bridger and Lucas perfectly as Lucas deals with growing up. Not one of my absolute favorites, but still a solid top twenty episode.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • TRIVIA: This episode marks the final appearance of Roy Schieder as 'Captain Nathan Bridger'.

    • While Lt. O'Neill is explaing to Darwin what they need him to do, he uses one of Bridger's old hand signs from season one to send Darwin away.

    • In flashback scenes, Ford is wearing a UEO uniform while the other soldiers are wearing US Navy uniforms. If the UEO didn't start until 2018, when Ford was a Commander, why is he wearing a UEO uniform in the flashbacks when it was established he was an Ensign at the time of the original experiments?

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Lucas (to Bridger): There's one thing that I don't understand, which is, um, some of this equipment here is U.E.O. technology. As we all know that Dagger research was outlawed long before the U.E.O. was ever formed. With all due respect, sir, I think I deserve an explanation.

    • Ford: I was a guard. I don't know why they singled me out. I was told to report to a part of the base I had never been before. They had me move a body to this room, a GELF. They said they were doing medical research on him. I thought he was dead. He attacked two MPs and then he started towards me. I thought they were gonna help him. I thought they wanted to help. I don't know why they singled me out. I don't know why.
Bridger: You were a good soldier.

    • Dagwood: Why were they hurting Daggers? Were they punished for hurting Daggers?
      Bridger: You saw this?
Ford: This island was designated priority one security. Revealing what was happening here would have been treason.
Bridger: Treason to expose a crime against humanity?
Ford: Are we going to expose to the world what happened here once we've got what we came for, Captain?

    • Lucas: Dagwood, I know you're mad, and I don't blame you.
Dagwood: Well, I blame you. All of you. Rachel told me monotones are bad.
      Lucas: Monotones?
Dagwood: You! That you did horrible things to Daggers. I didn't believe her. I told her you are my friends.
Lucas: Dagwood, we are your friends.
Dagwood: Then why do you hurt Daggers? Why is it so hard for me to understand how you can be my friends and still hurt my kind?

    • Hudson: Piccolo, plot a course, a bad one. Variations in speed, soft rudder. Generally futz it up.
Piccolo: I think I can still do that.

    • Ford: Captain Bridger, take Lucas and go.
      Bridger: What are you saying?
Ford: If this place is gonna be destroyed, then everything that was part of it has got to be destroyed. I was part of it. Go!
Dagwood: You would do that for Daggers?
Ford: Dagwood, I'm doing it for me. I could have done something and I didn't.
Dagwood: No, no one else must die. If everyone dies, no one remembers. We have to remember.

    • Hudson: Nathan, McGrath's trying to reach you.
Bridger: Thanks, Captain. Put him through.
Hudson: Can't do that. O'Neill's overhauling the communications array. Could be an hour before it's back online.
Bridger: Was it necessary to do that now?
Hudson: I like to keep the ship in top form, and you didn't seem to eager to talk to McGrath.

    • Bridger: I know this is difficult for you Lucas.
Lucas: Difficult? Well when you found out I was enlisted I figured you wouldn't be speaking to me again and now you're playing cloak and dagger with Section Seven. How do you expect me to act?
Bridger: I expect you to act like a soldier, Ensign!

    • Ford: Why are we being boarded by Section Seven? Did you know about this?
Hudson: No, but I'm sure as hell gonna find out.

    • Hudson: I doubt the Alliance is going to believe their drones had an unfortunate run-in with marine life.
