Secret Passages

Show Summary

Secret Passages is a History Channel series that explores secret passages throughout time and place. From ancient Egyptian tombs to modern chambers designed to withstand nuclear attacks, Secret Passages explores various places, including underground hiding places, secret tunnels and buildings that house more than meets the eye. It dispels some of the mystery that surrounds a wealth of previously hidden places, some of which were once categorized as top secret. The reasons behind constructing these passages are discussed as are their actual uses over time. Viewers learn about the people associated with secret passages, including "President of the Underground Railroad," Levi Coffin, gangsters of Al Capone's era, members of royalty, government representatives, and prisoners. The Coffin House in Indiana, the Nuremberg Castle, the Catacombs of Rome, the Paris Underground, a Chinese mausoleum and the Iron Mountain storage facility are among the secretive places this series sheds light on. Each episode contains the exploration of several passages.
