personally I think George doesn't get enough credit it making the show as good as it is.. he's been a main character from the beginning! most people see jerry or kramer as the funniest/best characters, but George has ALOT of good moments! here are some george quotes to prove my point:

"The sea was angry that day, my friends. Like an old man tryin to send back soup in a deli."

"It must be impossible for a Spanish person to order seltzer and not get salsa"

"Woah! Back it up, back it up. Beep beep beep.."

"I've always been a stall man."

    "Say Vandelay!"

those are just some of my fave george quotes.. and then there is always the underrated suggestion from the episode where jerry doesn't know his girlfriends name.. "Aretha!" i found that one hilarious! more than mulva lol

    any other opinions? agree? disagree??

DEFINETLY. Kramers funny, but George is definetly funnier than Elaine and Jerry. He makes the show- look at how many storylines he has that really advance the plot. Hes my parents fave too..and I think my brother too.

I don't like how Kramer is always considered the best character on the show, because it is clearly George, and always will be George.

George Castanza is an awesome character. I like it when he gets mad. He, and I have similar behavior.

I don't think he's underrated, I think a lot of people love George. He's definitely an integral part of the show and one of the reason's for the show's success. I find that George gets funnier the more I see him, unlike Kramer. I feel after seeing an episode a few times, Kramer's character gets old while George's does not.

George and Kramer are my favorites though I think Kramer still has an edge. I guess I'm just a sucker for the more physical comedy of Kramer's but lately I've been seeing the light on George and how funny he really was. George was the funniest character when he got mad tho, that's for sure.

I just love it in the episode "The Alternate Side" when he takes Sid's job moving cars of people in Jerry & Kramer's block. There is a car whose alarm won't go off and he yells through Jerry's window "Shut up! Shut up! I hear you. Shut up!"

Jason Alexander was a genious playing that part! I like all the characters, but Jason has a ton of talent. On the DVD or on a TV special they said the episode with the golf ball - the last scene - Jason didn't have a chance to even rehearse that because Jerry and Larry wrote it at the last minute - so he did it cold!

Oh yea! I love that too! These pretzels are making me thirsty!!

See George had all the good things. Kramer was more of the physical comedian, Jerry had jokes here and there, Elaine was nuts in her own way but...I cant see any of them doing these thigns except for George. He was just nuts.

I'm not sure how various polls have turned out, but George is not only my favorite character, but the favorite character of just about everyone I've ever watched the show with. War Costanza!

I think George was underrated, not in the eyes of the public, but in the eyes of the critics. Believe it or not, Jason never won an Emmy for George! That really upset me because I wanted Seinfeld to be one of those shows that had the whole cast win an Emmy (like the Golden Girls).

George is a great character. I think he really influenced the Jerry character, so I always give George credit for some of the Jerry storylines.

Regardless of what critics say, Jason Alexander is a fantastic actor and George Costanza is one of TV's best characters ever.
