the pilot for the fake Seinfeld sitcom "Jerry" where a man has no insurance and must work off the debt by becoming his butler is very similar to an episode of the Andy Griffith Show. The episode is called "Andy's English Valet" and while I am not making any accusations against Seinfeld as I am a big fan of the show, it is funny how the plot is nearly identical in both. In the AGS an Englishman causes an accident and must pay 40 American dollars which he does not have on him. In order to pay off the debt he becomes Andy's valet along with other butler like jobs. Its a good episode and fans of either show should watch it, but it begs the question of whether or not the writers at that time borrowed from it.

Must be the reason why "Jerry" was canceled. Anyway, I think you are looking to far into it...and I am sure George, got the idea from the AGS....remember who we are talking about here, George Castanza.
