My favorite show for Hospital type shows is "House" (some call it House M.D.), and for Drama it has to be "Prison Break" which I think is the greatest show I've ever seen.

When it comes to comedy though, I really don't think Seinfeld will ever be topped. At least not with a show that everybody talks about.

I don't really follow "Family Guy" or "American Dad" too well, but I hear they are fabulous cartoons.

The Simpsons are great too. I personally think Arrested Development is the best show ever. I think I like Curb Your Enthusiasm better too, but that's probably because I'm just a little sick of Seinfeld as I've seen every episode 4,5 or even 6 times.

Hey, Two And a Half men is the best comedy on tv right now and one the best ever made, it's actually a brilliant comedy. so I'll go with that one.

give me a break scrubs is so mundane, and most people watch because of the mushy relationships.

Back to topic...I think you'll like arrested development a big time, I've watched a couple of episodes and I'm loving it.

I think CYE is very boring, it's well-written but its a big lackluster

CYE is the new Seinfeld. I think it's the best thing on right now. It may not have the laughs per minute that Seinfeld has, but often times the ending is hilarious. I like Larry David and love the situations he gets himself into. I find myself rooting for him during every scenario.

There will never be another Seinfeld. I have not seen one in the 2000's that compares. If I had to pick one it would be The King of Queens.

Have you tried Arrested Development? This show stomps Seinfeld in my opinion - but it is quite short - 53 episodes

The UK show Lead Balloon is very Seinfeldish, but not nearly as good.

That show Unhitched seemed very Seinfeld-like. It was like an new generation's take on Seinfeld, and it was more disgusting and crude. The formula seemed identical, though. If Jerry and George were frat dudes, then it's exactly what Seinfeld would have ended up being.

I will never know why this show got cancelled, it's either one of these two reasons:

-Fox can never market a decent show
-it was too dry for the people to like/understand

the DVD sales are crazy and the critics always cite it as one of the best shows. Seinfeld went through the same problem actually nobody used to watch it in the first 4 years

FOX is ratings-crazy and gets rids of everything halfway decent just because their ratings arent up to par but will keep crappy shows. Same thing happened with The OC.

I think it was canceled due to lack of ratings, and it didn't have the ratings because they moved it around too much so nobody knew when to watch. You have to commit to a weekly schedule to maintain ratings. Any deviation risks a lull.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is too wrapped up in its own neurosis sometimes. Arrested Development is the closest we've gotten to the next Seinfeld, I think, because:
One - it had the same near-perfect balance of plot and absurdism.
Two - it went some way in revitalising the comedy genre, in much the same way that Seinfeld did.

In terms of popularity, though, I think we can safely say that no comedy in 2000-2008 has even come close (Friends was in the same "generation" as Seinfeld so I don't think it counts). I mean, my God, the hype over the finale alone.

    Thats your opinion

The OC is the only show that kept me hooked from the pilot on. No other show has done that. Not Seinfeld, Friends, Curb, AD, One Tree Hill, Sex and the City, Family Guy, etc. I only kept watching those because I felt like "why not?" where as with The OC I had to know what was going to happen next and kept saying that with each episode on. So I always thought it was great from the get-go and is special to me in that way as well.

You are right, they actually made a joke at the Seinfeld finale on "Dharma & Greg" where the characters wanted to have public sex at the time of the Seinfeld finale because everyone will be sitting home watching LOL, and I agree no sitcom will ever be as popular as Friends and Seinfeld, let's face it: the sitcom genre is dying, and reality t.v is ruling.

If the arrested development movie was a success alongside with the crazy DVD sales, I just hope they will revive it like family guy, which incidentally was on fox too
