The Yankees traded him to work at Tyler Chicken because he pretended to be a tourist from Little Rock, AR to meet with a woman. It happened on "The Muffin Tops."

I could be wrong but I thought he quit so he could get a job with the Mets but then that fell through?

He did wanted to get fired to go to the Mets but Wilhelm all of a sudden took the blame and he got fired instead of George. It was on "The Millenium."

He was traded for chicken. Another one of those extremely odd last season plots. Every time I watch episodes from the last season, I think they should have quit in the previous season cold turkey with no finale.

You know people who aren't completely familiar with every second of the episode or looking for accurate information are not going to get the joke. If anything it will only confuse them. They made 180 episodes.

He also hid out under the desk in one episode, but he wasn't fired due to that
