It seems odd that George heard that Kramer got "mugged" on a babysitting gig when Kramer and Elaine were the only people involved and they both knew it wasn't a mugging.
When Elaine baby-sits the second time, Vivian's house is shown from the outside, and it's clearly daytime. Also, when Vivian comes home, you can see through the window that it's light out. Why then is Jimmy asleep in bed?
It seems unlikely that Jerry would have no scrapes, bruises, or other wounds after being dragged behind a car.
When we see the outside of the blood bank early in the episode it is definitely apparent that the bank is located in the city. When Kramer is driving his blood from the apartment building to the bank in Jerry's car we see him driving down a highway that is definitely not in the city. He wouldn't drive from the Upper West Side, out of the city and then back into the city to move the blood.
Kramer: (to Jerry who received a blood transfusion) You've got three pints of Kramer in you, buddy!
Jerry: Is this about me?
Elaine: No.
Jerry: Well, then I've lost interest.
Jerry: If even one corpuscle of that blood should find its way across that hall, I will freak out on you. Freak out!
Kramer: You know, for a fat guy you're not very jolly.
Elaine: I couldn't raise a kid? C'mon, I love bossing people around.
(Elaine looks very tired while babysitting Jimmy)
Jimmy: (pointing a toy gun at Elaine) You're dead President Lincoln, you're dead!
Elaine: I wish I was dead.
Kramer: Well, somebody's baby-sitting.
Elaine: You? I'm more responsible than you are!
Kramer: Don't be ridiculous. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go to fill my freezer with my own blood.
George: Food and sex, those are my two passions. It's only natural to combine them.
Jerry: Natural? Sex is about love between a man and a woman, not a man and a sandwich.
George: Jerry, I'm not suggesting getting rid of the girl. She's integral.
Jerry: Maybe instead of trying to satisfy two of your needs, how about satisfying one of somebody else's?
(George is moaning while eating a sandwich and watching a portable TV under covers)
Tara: George, what are you doing? (pulls covers off of him)
George:(with mouthfull) Pleasuring you?
George: (in bed) You got your strawberries, your chocolate sauce, your pastrami on rye with mustard…
George: I flew too close to the sun on wings of pastrami.
Jerry: Yeah. That's what you did.
Vivian: I find pastrami to be the most sensual of all the salted, cured meats.
Jerry: So, how's the Fornicating Gourmet?
George: Doing quite well, thank you. Yesterday I had a soft-boiled egg and a quickie. You know what? If I could add TV to the equation, that would really be the ultimate.
Jerry: Why are you calling my parents?
Kramer: Well, if you called a little more often, then maybe I wouldn't have to.
(when she finds out Kramer is babysitting instead of her)
Elaine: I'm more responsible than you are!
Kramer: Don't be ridiculous. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go fill my freezer with my own blood.
Kramer: If I'm out on the street and it starts to go down, I don't back off until it's finished.
(on Kramer's blood transfusion)
Jerry: I can feel his blood inside of me… borrowing things from my blood!
Lloyd Bridges received an Emmy nomination in 1998 for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for playing "Izzy Mandelbaum" in this episode.
Lloyd Bridges is credited as a "Special Appearance".
As from this episode, Barney Martin and Liz Sheridan (Morty & Helen Seinfeld) will be receiving the "With" credit. Wayne Knight (Newman) receives it too.
The character who dies, Marvin Kessler (whose funeral Jerry's parents come to visit), is a reference to Kramer's original name in the series (see the notes section for "Good News, Bad News," episode 1).
The writers of the show mention in a magazine article that this episode is so dark they considered making it a Halloween episode.
If you look closely when Vivian turns on the TV, you can clearly see an episode of 'Seinfeld' on the screen.
Jerry: (to George) Oh no! I'll tell you what you did, Caligula. You combined food and sex into one disgusting, uncontrollable urge.
Caligula is a nickname of Roman emperor Gaius Caesar Germanicus. Caligula was known for his sexual perversity and inspired a 1979 movie called Caligula that was co-financed by Penthouse.
George mentions he "flew too close to the sun on wings of pastrami", a reference to Greek mythology's legend of Icarus and Daedalus. Icarus didn't heed his father's advice to not fly his wax-coated wings too high, allowing the sun to melt them, plunging Icarus to his death.
