  • Trivia

    • When Kramer watches the end of his movie, he is sitting in his couch eating spaghetti. Behind him is a sign, that says "Elevator, forsigtig!". This is Danish, and means "Careful, Elevator!".

    • When Kramer tells Jerry he's set up a meeting with a lawyer, he refers to him at "Shelbig". Then, when he arrives late for his appointment, the secretary calls him "Shelbock". And finally, when Kramer goes to find him at his tennis lesson, he calls him "Shelback".

    • Vincent calls Elaine as soon as she finishes watching the first movie and asks her if she enjoyed the movie. Then, when Elaine rents "Weekend At Bernie's 2," he calls during the movie and asks if she's enjoying it. How does he always seem to know what point in the movie she's at?

    • In the scene which Jerry catches Milos at the tennis court and realizes his tennis abilities you can see a boom mic at the top of the screen.

    • After Kramer throws out Jerry's old racket a second time (and it lands in the trash can headfirst), Jerry protests and pulls it out of the garbage, holding the handle in one hand and the head in the other. From what we know about Jerry and cleanliness, why would he do that?

    • When Elaine gets caught by Vincent's mother with the little hoard of vodka, cigarettes, fireworks, etc, we see that she was very much out of character. She normally would break up with a guy if he smoked, yet she is providing cigarettes to a man she is trying to meet and start a relationship with.

    • In this episode Kramer tells Jerry that he "Never knew it was possible to come out of a coma". But in "The Suicide", an earlier episode, Kramer knows full well that it's possible and even explains to Jerry that if the victim doesn't come out of the coma in 24 hours it's a "land rush". His ignorance on comas is inconsistent with earlier episodes.

    • When Kramer, Jerry, and Elaine are discussing the "Jerk Store" comeback, Kramer suggests George say he slept with Reilly's wife. Then he says "George, you were married, how would that make you feel?" Susan died before the marriage, so this is presumably meant hypothetically.

  • Quotes

    • Yankee exec: (to George) We only wake you up for the important meetings.

    • Kramer: (to Elaine) You're a calculating, cold-hearted business woman. And when there's dirty work to be done, you don't mind stomping on a few throats.

    • Kramer: (on being in a coma) I don't want to be a vegetable, Elaine. I just want out.

    • Elaine: (on turning off a life support system) Yank it like you're starting a mower.

    • Fred: All right, let's get to it.
      George: Wha…wait a minute, wha-what about Reilly?
Fred: Reilly doesn't work here anymore.
George: (surprised) What? I-I didn't hear about that.
Fred: Oh, we only wake you up for the important meetings.
(Everyone at the table collapses into laughter)

    • George: So, guess where Mr. "Ocean phoned" turned up? He's working for Firestone, in Akron, Ohio.
      Elaine: Ohio?
George: Yep. I'm leaving first thing tomorrow morning.
Jerry: You're flying to Akron, just to zing a guy?
George: Don't you understand? It's not about him. To have a line as perfect as "jerk store" and to never use it. I, I couldn't live with myself.
Elaine: See, there are no jerk stores. It, it's just a little confusing, is all.
George: It's smart. It's a smart line, and a smart crowd will appreciate it. And, I'm not gonna dumb it down for some bonehead mass audience!
(George realizes that everyone in the coffee shop is staring at him)
      George: (waving apologetically) Not you.

    • Reilly: So, George, you're proposing a snow tire day at Yankees Stadium?
George: (through a mouthful) As long as they don't throw 'em on the field. (laughs)Help yourself to some shrimp, I brought enough for everybody.
McAdam: I have to say this, this proposal doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
George: Well, you never know. (picks up more shrimp) Let's see how many I can fit in my mouth.
(George begins picking up shrimp one by one and stuffing them into his mouth)
      Reilly: You know, George…
      (George looks up, expectantly)
Reilly: The ocean called, they're running outta shrimp.
      (Everyone except George starts laughing)
George: Oh yeah, Reilly? (wipes his mouth and stands up) Well, the jerk store called, they're runnin' outta you.
Reilly: (unperturbed) What's the difference? You're their all-time best seller.
(Everyone except George starts laughing again)
George: Yeah? Well, I had sex with your wife.
      (long silence)
McAdams: (standing up and leaning over to speak in George's ear) His wife's in a coma.

    • Jerry: You actually said that to him?
George: Well, no… I thought it up on the way over here.

    • Kramer: Go around ya bunch a crazies!

    • Kramer: I didn't know it was possible to come out of a coma.
Jerry: I didn't know it was possible not to know that.

    • Gene: We have a wide variety of 'Gene picks.'
      Elaine: Gene's trash!
      Gene: I'm Gene.
      Elaine: ...Hi.

    • Milos: You're not planning to hit these balls with that racket are you?

    • Jerry: Trust me, Kramer. Given the legal opportunity, I will kill you!

    • George: I'm going with jerk store. Jerk store is the line. Jerk store!

  • Notes

    • In the scene where Kramer is watching "The Other Side of Darkness" in his apartment, there are some figures on the shelf behind him that look very much like fusilli Jerry.

    • Viewer Jeffrey Abucay notes that Kramer should have known that you can come out of a coma, after all he witnessed the event occurring in "The Suicide". Viewer Mark Byerly notes that in an installment of Ben Stein's diary in The American Spectator, Stein reveals that in the original script for this episode he was to play a role closer to Reilly, that is, as George's adversary at the office. However, someone decided that Reilly should be a younger, edgier character, so the character was rewritten. Since Stein had been promised a part already, the part of Shellbach was offered to him instead.

  • Allusions

    • Vincent is a reference to Vincent Van Gogh. The VCR Play Button is his ear.

    • When George can't think of a comeback, he says "D'oh!" This is a resemblance to Homer Simpson whenever he says "D'oh!" in The Simpsons.

    • Elaine's story with the romantic unseen Vincent is an allusion to the CBS version of "Beauty and the Beast" in which a poety-reading romantic catlike beast named Vincent charms a beauty while (in the pilot) hidden from shadows and through sewer tops.
