What an utterly stupid episode. The show glorifies cockfighting (which is illegal in 47 states) and fails to note that cockfighting is to the death and that the roosters have razor sharp wires attached to their feet to inflict as much damage as possible. This episode makes it seem like cockfighting is nothing but some harmless pecking. The idea that Kramer was too stupid to know the difference between a hen and a rooster is not believable. Neither is the idea that Jerry would use clown checks (even if he received those by mistake) or that he would EVER bounce a check. This is a character who buys Cadillacs as gifts. He would have used a credit card anyway. Clearly, the writers were out of ideas. The subplot of George dating a prisoner was pretty good. The subplot of Elaine boyfriend proposing because he's going bald was not in the least creative, interesting, or funny. 2.5 strictly for George dating the cute convict.moreless

Kramer and Jerry noticed that Jerry has a bounced check hanging up at the bodega, and Elaine saw the check because it had balloons and clowns on it but she didn't know that it was Jerry's. George goes down to a prison for the foundation and asked a prisoner for a date. Kramer buys a rooster thinking its a chicken and names it Jerry Seinfeld. News of Jerry's bounced check makes it all the way to his parents and they tell him they will send him $50. Kramer put his rooster in a cock fight to get Jerry's check removed from the bodega, but once he realized what a cock fight is he changes his mind. Little Jerry Seinfeld starts winning fights and Kramer likes the idea. Once George hears that his girlfriend is up for parole, george figures his relationship is over until he meets with one of the prison staff and she asks George how she is doing and he tells her she will be back to her old ways. Celia (Georges girlfriend) breaks out of prison to see George.moreless

    I love this episode!!!

"Little Jerry," said Kramer! "Kramer," said Jerry. "Stop the fight," said Elaine; and George just called the tamales.

I love this episode. Classic, funny and it follows the show. Come on! This show is really classic!!! In this episode, the relationship between George and the girl at prision. "I think a normal relationship is not ok for me," said George. He is absolutely crazy, in this and all of the episodes.

I love this episode, I repeat.

Jerry, you just have to continue this show, I want more seasons with more of this great episodes.moreless

I saw this episode the other day and I had to write a review of this episode. Kramer buys a mistaken chicken for a rooster. It wakes up Jerry. Jerry on the other hand bounced his check at the bodega. Elaine is dating a guy who's going bald and gets George for advice. George on the other hand is dating a convict. Back to Jerry and Kramer, the check will be down if Marcellino will take Little Jerry in numerous rounds of cockfighting. The funniest part of the episode occurs when Kramer tries to get Little Jerry out of the match and gets attacked by Marcellino's chicken. Absolutely funny. LOL!moreless

    • Viewer Ben Nuckols offers this wild theory about this episode: Here's a wild theory. I think there might have been a TV industry "inside joke" in "The Little Jerry," which was on in syndication this week. I knew I recognized the name of John Michael Higgins, who plays Kurt, from somewhere, and I finally figured it out. He played David Letterman in the HBO movie "The Late Shift." I checked the Internet Movie Database to be sure. Of course, he looks completely different with his head shaved. Here's the connection: when "The Late Shift" came out, the real David Letterman complained that the actor playing him had red hair. Higgins was scheduled to be a guest on Letterman's show, but he was bumped, some say due to Letterman's distaste for his portrayal in the picture. Now, do you suppose it's a coincidence that Higgins was cast as a character whose hair was a central issue? Elaine glamorizes the hair color by describing it as "chestnut with auburn highlights." Do you think Seinfeld was taking a lighthearted stab at his buddy Letterman? Offer any comments to Ben at this email address (for as long as it remains valid): bgn3f@virginia.edu. Edit

    • Marcelino: "85 cent" when Jerry is buying Juicy-Fruit
This is a reference to the 1993 film "Falling Down" starring Michael Douglas. In the film Douglas is in a food shop in California buying a soda, the owner charges him 85 cent for a soda and he becomes furios about the price and destroys the store. Edit
    • Elaine: It's chestnut with auburn highlights.
This is the identical description that Rebecca uses when she describes her hair color to Woody's lovesick cousin, played by Harry Connick, Jr in the 1992 Cheers episode "A Diminished Rebecca with a Suspended Cliff." Edit
