I thought this was a funny episode of Seinfeld. It was a bit ridiculous in some areas, but for the most part it was decent. I thought that the really ridiculous part was George and his car plot. If he thinks that Jon Voight would by a car like that at that time, he must have been really out of it. I also thought that Elaine and Jerry were funny as well. Kramer was trying to save a small business but then was left cold by Mom and Pop. Overall, this was a good episode that was fairly entertaining and nice. Thank you.
Elaine helps her boss in a radio contest, Kramer aids an old neighborhood shoe repair business, George buys "Jon" Voight's car.
I put this episode in the same category as the "Kramerica oil-filled bladder" and the "Phil Rizzuto plastic bobblehead" episodes as ending with a a scenario a little too ridiculous to match the tone of the series. At the same time, the other subplots are not among the series' best, a car belonging to Jon Voight is just not top drawer and generally all the Elaine/Mr. Pitt stories never get off the ground. Still, Elaine has the best spots here, it's funny how she pretends to hear Tim Watley at his party and her delivery of the lines about how "Mom and Pop" moved into the nighborhood and established trust for almost 50 years just so they could steal Jerry's sneakers is good. The "Mom and Pop" shoe store needs more focus in general.
By the time it all comes together at the end (and it does), it's just not one of the standout episodes of "Seinfeld" in most of the ways that define the comedy style of the program.
