    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (7)

      • After Kramer gets into the car with Newman and tells him to "Just drive," a white car appears in the background over Kramer's shoulder as they begin to pull away.

      • When Kramer comes into the coffee shop wearing an eye patch, Jerry tells him he looks like a pirate. Kramer responds, "I want to be a pirate." This, of course, is in contrast to Season 5's "The Puffy Shirt," in which Kramer tells Jerry that by wearing the puffy shirt on TV, he'll be the first pirate in the new trend. Then Jerry's response is "I don't wanna be a pirate!"

      • In the scene where Newman and Kramer are in court, the judge calls Newman "Mr. Newman". To my knowledge, Newman's last name has never been revealed, but I doubt his full name is Newman Newman. It seems like a mistake to me. COMMENT: I doubt we were ever to think of "Newman" as a first name. He is called by his last name in the same way that Kramer is. The judge calling him "Mr. Newman" confirms that.

      • When the cop finds the "white whale", the car is empty, but when George hits the car, Newman is surprisingly sitting in the car, and then he gets off...how did he get in the car whithout the cop noticing it?

      • In this episode George is fully aware of the concept of having to tell your wife any and all secrets. But in "The Sponge", he says he has never heard of it before when Susan mentions that he has to tell her all of his secrets.

      • I could be wrong but in "The Ticket" wouldn't Newman have been revealed as the Scofflaw then. He got a ticket and went to court so I assume they would have checked his tag and registration and found the unpaid parking tickets.

      • In the restaurant scene when Gary tells George he didn't have cancer, Gary's dialog is as follows, "I never actually had cancer. Ha! I'll see ya!" Later, when Jerry convinces George to tell him what's on his mind, George seems to know a bit too much about the situation when he says, "The doctors thought he had cancer but the surgery revealed that he never actually had it." Now, we all know that George is capable of stretching the truth occasionally, and it IS possible that George ran down the street after Gary or telephoned him later for more information... but as a nitpicker I have to call 'em as I see 'em. It looks like an oversight to me.

    • QUOTES (11)

    • NOTES (1)

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • The cop refers to the scofflaw he's been pursuing for so long as his "white whale", a reference to Herman Melville's classic novel Moby Dick, where Captain Ahab became obsessed with hunting down and killing a white whale called Moby Dick.
