  • Kramer buys a deli slicer.

    9.2
Season 9 of Seinfeld was a huge step down from past years, yet this was still a very strong episode. Two great characters were introduced with the clueless buffoon Krueger and Dr. Sidarides, played by Marcia Cross, who if you've ever seen Desperate Housewives, is hilarious when given the right avenue.

The episode did a great job bringing all the different storylines together in the end, having Kramer give Krueger an exam. Jerry was on top of his game with great zingers and a generally brash and sarcastic tone. Although the hives storyline wasn't necessary, prop humor gets over with the majority of America. While it's not as good the 100th time as it was the first time, no show has replay value even close to on par with Seinfeld. You can watch any episode 300 times if you want too.moreless
  • Good episode!

    9.0
Elaine is unable to sleep because her neighbors' clock is put on three AM and sounds all day long, so she asks Kramer for help and they disconnect the electricity, but later finds out that they have a cat in there, so they uses Kramer's new slicer in order to give him food, but Elaine gets addicted to it, and accidentally stocks it, causing to Kramer to break her door and get lock inside. Meanwhile, Jerry breaks up with her new girl because she keeps telling things about saving lives, but she is a dermatologist, but ultimately finds out that she indeeds saves life because she cures people of skin cancer. George uses the help of Kramer and Jerry to paste on a photo with George's new boss, and that causes a lot of problems. A cool episode!moreless
  • Not the best episode but amusing with a clever ending

    6.0
Although still not up the high standard of pre-series eight Seinfeld 'The Slicer' doesn't jump the shark as badly as other post Larry David storylines and as such returns to the witty, well plotted style that made Seinfeld such a classic show. It's still not quite up to the best standard but it's a welcome episode after viewing its predecessor, the awful 'The Merv Griffin Show.' The final scene in this episode, which involves the confluence of events that has followed a doctored photograph and Kramer's attempt at giving a check up after being mistaken for a dermatologist, is very good and seals the episode off perfectly. Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross makes an early television appearance here as jerry's doctor girlfriend.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (8)

    • Before Elaine is awakened by her neighbor's alarm, she has a dream where she's in bed with Jerry, George and Kramer. This scene is edited from the syndicated version.

    • Goof: When Elaine thinks it's her alarm clock buzzing, we see it's 3:30 but seconds later when she screams, the clock shows 3:29 !!!

    • Nitpick: Kramer estimates that the space under Elaine's neighbor's door is about half a millimeter. In actual fact, it's at least a full centimeter - 20 times as much as Kramer suggests.

    • Elaine and Kramer blew the electric circuit attached to her neighbor's apartment using a paperclip in the outlet in the hall. However, later in the episode, when they go back to feed the cat, they use Kramer's slicer. But because they'd blown the circuit, they technically shouldn't have anywhere to plug it in.
When they try to blow the circuit the light goes out in the hallway, so the power must have been out for the whole building. Obviously, the power was restored before they used the slicer in the hallway.

    • Elaine says that woman whose apartment smells like potatoes went out of town and left her alarm on. However, later, when Kramer pulls off Elaine's doorknob, he accidentally opens the neighbor's door across the hall. He exclaims "That's a lot of potatoes!" and then a man's voice screams back. Apparently, Elaine was mistaken about which apartment was responsible for the potato smell.

    • George says the "boom-box incident" occurred in 1989, back when he still had hair. But, the episode "Good News, Bad News" was from 1989 and George was STILL bald!

In 1989 George was bald, plus he was rather slim, Kruger states that George was a pear shaped loser then.

    • The door that Kramer slides the meat through for the cat looked like it was about 2 inches off the ground. In that case, it was pointless to bring the slicer. They could have just bought some regular lunch meat.

    • In the episode, the characters say Dr. "Sederedes", not Seredes, as it is shown on this page.

  • QUOTES (14)

  • NOTES (6)

    • When Elaine turns on the radio to drown-out the cat she dances using her 'little kicks' from the episode of the same name.

    • Other things reused from previous episodes:
At one point Jerry tosses a towel onto Kramer's face. In "The Red Dot," Mr. Lippman tossed the cashmere sweater onto George's face.
Kramer takes a picture of Mr. Kruger without his shirt. He also captured Elaine's nipple in "The Pick," and George in his underwear in "The Package."
Expecting imminent unemployment, George wonders about joining the Coast Guard. In "The Revenge," he considered a list of jobs for which he was obviously unqualified.
Elaine's neighbor's cat won't stop meowing. In "The Engagement," her neighbor's dog wouldn't stop barking.
Kramer takes seriously Jerry's sarcastic remark about having a stock room. In "The Pothole" he took seriously Jerry's sarcastic remark about having a shed out back.
Elaine tells Kramer that she's got to stop off the circus and Kramer mentions that he's afraid of clowns. In "The Gymnast" when Jerry and his girlfriend went to the circus, he tells Kramer that he's coming with him, then Kramer tells him that he doesn't want to go because he's afraid of clowns.

    • The role of Sara is played by Marcia Cross, who played Kimberly on Melrose Place. In episode #102 "The Beard" Jerry and Elaine talk about Kimberly when Jerry finally admits to watching Melrose Place.

    • When Kruger comes to the Festivus dinner at the end of "The Strike", he mentions Von Nostrand when he sees Kramer, who agrees silently.....

    • Jeff Holland notes that Kramer again uses the name of Von Nostrand again. He also used it in "The Nose Job" and "The Pilot (1)". Chris Peterson adds that Kramer also used the name again when trying to obtain Elaine's medical records in "The Package".

    • Viewer Kyle Westphal was the first to note that George says the incident took place in 1989 and Kruger said the picture was from 10 years ago. A difference of two years.
