  • talking dirty

I love how the girls handle unique situations concerning their relationships. In this episode that is about Miranda. I would hate to be in a situation like the one she was in ... the man she was seeing wanted her to talk dirty to him just like he did to her in the bedroom. Never will the words rock, sausage and hard rock seem the same. I love that the four girls can talk openly about their boyfriends with each other and not feel embarrassed. They have an amazing friendship that I am in awe of. Sex and the City at it's best.moreless

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Susan: It's 100% Italian cashmere and light as a feather.
      Carrie: God, I love it! It's a cashmere-acle!

    • (Carries shows the group a card she got from Big)
Carrie: What do you think it means?
Miranda: It means rip up the card.
Samantha: And watch out for the thorns.

    • Miranda: Sex is not a time to chat.

    • Samantha: Practically all relationships I know are based on the foundation of lies and mutually accepted delusions. Take me and James for instance, I pretend he doesn't have a small dick and he pretends to notice that we haven't had sex in three weeks.

    • Miranda: Telling your friend to leave her husband is something you just don't do.
Samantha: If she does break up with him its your fault. If she doesn't break up with him, she knows that you think that she should and, therefore can never speak to you again. Either way you're screwed.

    • Carrie (voiceover):Miranda was staring as Eliza Doolittle in "My Filthy Lady".

This is a parody/allusion to the famous musical "My Fair Lady". In it, Eliza Doolittle, a flower seller with a heavy Cockney accent learns to speak like a lady.

    • Title reference: This episode's title is a reference to the movie The Awful Truth. This 1937 film is about Jerry and Lucy Warriner, a high society couple in New York City. Despite being very happy, they start to doubt each other's fidelity. Finally they decide to divorce and do their best to ruin each other's plans for remarriage.
