Darren Star himself has confirmed that this episode is a 'love letter' to New York, in honor of the events of September 11, 2001
Brady is born at the end of this episode. The episode is set in the early fall. When Miranda discovers she is pregnant, she says Steve is the father because he is the only guy she slept with that summer. This means that either she was pregnant for 3 months or a little over a year.
The Hospital set in this episode dubbed as Mount Sinai is the same one used as a hospital in Philadelphia in "My Motherboard, My Self", when Miranda went there to see her mother.
In this episode, two cast main cast members from the fifth season of Alias guest star. Ron Rifkin who plays Arvin Sloane and Rachel Nikols who plays Rachel Gibson.
In Julian's office, right before Carrie gets drunk, Julian puts a Billie Holiday CD in the player. But after the music starts, you can see through the CD window that the disc is not actually moving.
When Carries tells the girls that she has to either buy her place (from Aidan) or move out Charlotte suggests that Carrie buy her place. Carrie's response is: New York is a town of renters; everybody rents." And then Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte as say that they don't rent their places; they own. However, in the episode "Four Women And A Funeral" Charlotte says the following: "Everyone needs a man, that's why I rent. If you own and he still rents then the power structure is all off. It's emasculating, men don't want a woman who's too self sufficient."
It seems surprising that Charlotte would give conflicting advice to Carrie consider her previous statements about renting versus owning an apartment in New York.
the display on Samantha's cell phone shows 07/20/01 as the date. When she answers the phone, she says "Richard, it's Sunday." July 20, 2001, was a Friday.
When Carrie is hailing a cab, Big pulls up and offers her a ride. She opens the door to get in and then in the next shot she's already sitting inside the car.
When Carrie is writing her article she is eating a popsicle. In one scene she has the popsicle stick in her mouth and then in the next scene the stick is gone and she only has a piece of the popsicle in her mouth
Trey is sitting in the bath talking to his mother and there are no bubbles in the water. However, in the close-up, the water is covered in bubbles.
When Carrie goes out to get some "real food" she goes to a place called Frozen Cup and gets a hamburger. This scene was actually filmed in Bellerose, NY. The place is really called Frozen Cup, but they don't sell Hamburgers.
Aidan's country house is located in Suffern, NY - a town that is portrayed as being in the middle of nowhere. In reality, Suffren has a population of over 10,000 and is located in a densely populated area of Rockland County, NY. The same is true of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ - also mentioned in the episode. In fact, if Carrie REALLY traveled from Suffren to Rockland county, she would have passed a number of towns, all of which are busy and really - look like one big strip mall.
To find an area as rural as the one portrayed in this episode that is northeast of the city, one would have to travel to Eastern Orange or Sullivan County, NY.
Steve and Miranda are having an argument in Miranda's apartment. As Steve goes to put his shoes on to leave, in one shot we see him wearing glasses while in the next shot he isn't.
When Carrie first calls Miranda at the hospital she has smudged mascara [presumably from crying and wiping] we then have a quick shot to Carrie, then back to Miranda and the mascara is gone. Yet after a few more switch shots it re-appears...
When Carrie, Samantha and Charlotte are at the diner discussing Miranda's mothers death, Charlotte moves over to Carrie's side. Carrie is crying and Charlotte offers her a handkerchief, which Carrie accepts. The next shot is across the table to Samantha, then back to Charlotte and Carrie who has a diner napkin in her hand wiping her tears. Charlotte is still holding her Handkerchief.
Carrie's original email to Aidan before she deleted it and simply wrote "I miss you":
Another big problem -- I'm surrounded by memories of you... in my apartment, on the street, that little Moroccan restaurant we ran into when it started pouring rain on us and you kissed me over the cous cous. (Rookie tactical mistake not to have a memory-free environment. Why did we have to go so many places?) Anyhow, I'm not holding out hope that you're going to change your mind about us. You probably have a new girlfriend now, or several new girlfriends, and I missed my window and I'll just have to live with that. I'm sure you feel like you can't trust me with your heart. But please know that I never meant to hurt you, and I would never do it again, because I know now (too little too late, or better late than never?) that what we had was real and rare and special, and the way it felt to kiss you is the way I always want to feel.
I hope you write me back, but if you don't, I understand. Just know that I'm thinking about you, and I miss you, and I'm still sleeping on your shoulder when I close my eyes at night.
Steve and Aidan opened a bar named Scout after Steve's dog.
When Aidan is feeding Carrie the cake, the size of the cake alternates between shots.
Samantha introduces Maria to Carrie, but Maria already met Carrie in the previous episode.
Goof: When Charlotte and Trey are in the cab fighting, there are two buses in the background. As she slams the door shut, the second bus is still far behind the taxi, but when the camera shows her, there's no bus in sight.
