The Battle of Vitoria was in June, 1813. However, in this episode we appear to see snow falling during the battle.
Sharpe and the Marquesa are riding and fall into a stream. This was an accident, but director Tom Clegg liked it and kept it in the film.
El Matarife: You must count the ways of your death.
Sharpe: The dead don't count, El Matarife.
Nairn: His name was Liam Dooley. He and his brother were going to be hanged for looting a church. I made them an offer. One could live, but one would die. Liam called heads. It was a very bad call.
Sharpe: Drunk again, Harper?
Harper: Oh, me too, sir.
Mother Superior: Father Hacha has told me of your deep desire to repent.
The Marquesa: I haven't sinned enough, yet.
Father Hacha: Your husband is dead, Marquesa.
The Marquesa: I find it hard to tell the difference.
La Marquesa: Good bye, Raoul. Come soon! (coach drives off) But then again, you always do.
Ducos: You've had it easy in this war, Helene. Fluttering your eyelashes and living in Spanish splendour with your dear husband, the Marques.
La Marquesa: I married him at Napoleon's request. I can't enjoy having him grunt all over me while I stole information for people like you.
Ducos: I never considered it.
La Marquesa: But then you've never had sex.
Wellington: The scum of the earth, Nairn.
Nairn: And what damn fine fellows we've made of them, sir.
Sister: I hope you are well.
La Marquesa: I hope you are in excruciating pain.
Harper: Where are we going, sir?
Nairn: Over the hills and far away, Sergeant.
Harper: Oh. Which hills and how far?
Nairn: Questions, questions.
(After Sharpe has supposedly been hanged)
Catain D'Alembord: Damn waste, Harper.
Harper: It was damn murder, sir.
(At Sharpe's "execution")
Aide: Shall I serve sherry to the Spanish officers, sir?
Wellington: Damn it, Stokeley, it's an execution, not a bloody christening.
La Marquesa: It's bloody freezing!
Harper: Must be the weather, ma'am.
Harper:You know the army, boys. They couldn't hang a curtain.
Sharpe's Honour was first broadcast in the US on Masterpiece Theatre on May 28, 1995.
This is the last episode featuring Major Nairn as Wellington's spy. He was replaced in the third season by Major Munro.
This episode is based on Bernard Cornwell's book Sharpe's Honour (1985).
