  • One of the best episodes of the series!

The war comes to an end; however, the story doesn't for Major Sharpe. Sharpe signs power of attorney of his money over to his wife Jane, his loving and devoted wife (please note sarcasm), when she is angered upon hearing of Richard's duel. Her best friend talks her into leaving for England and withdrawing all the money his has in the bank. Jane's love for Richard seems to only go skin deep since at the beginning of the episode she was so worried about Richard getting killed in battle then she very eagerly hops into bed with Lord Rossendale. Meanwhile, Major Ducos takes off with Napoleon's treasure but not before framing Sharpe for the theft and murder of two of the men guarding it. Richard is arrested but escapes custody in order to find Colonel Maillot with Frederickson's help. Unknowing to Richard, Colonel Maillot has just been murdered to cover up Richard's innocence. However, Colonel Maillot's sister, Lucy, shoots him the leg believing he was the one who had killed her brother. As she nurses him back to health he finds new love in Lucy Maillot and upon hearing of Lucy's treachery with Rossendale. Major Ducos is found, defeated, the treasure is recovered, and Richard regains his good name. Lucy hears of this and knows Richard will be seaking revenge upon her and Rossendale. This was definitely one jammed packed episode and completely immersing.moreless
