When I first learn of this show existence when it was season 2 episode 2 I was skeptical at first if this was going to be any good. After reading the reviews I decided to go on ahead and look at the first episode. What scared me they were basing the time theme in modern times, but after looking at the first episode I was hooked and I mean very hooked. How Sherlock and Watson got to know each other and first meet was special. The cases are entertaining, funny and brilliant a lot of geek stuff when it does Sherlock in the zone detective analysis when he brainstorms after detail of the case of possibilities and what he knows it very remarkable I haven't seen a show like this and they should keep this up because this show is special.moreless

I didn't think I could love a re-imagining of Sherlock Holmes more than Robert Downey Jr.'s, but Benedict Cumberbatch has officially won me over. This show is the trifecta of perfection: brilliant acting, writing and production. Martin Freeman is the perfect balance to this contemporized Sherlock, brilliant in his own right. As a fan of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original stories, I expected to hate this interpretation of his best mysteries, but I've loved each episode. My favorite thing about this show is its perfect blend of comedy, wit and drama. Adding together the awesome acting, clever dialogue and perfect pacing of the stories, there isn't a single boring moment. I can't recommend this series highly enough, whether you're a fan of Sherlock Holmes, or just plain good TV.moreless

Just last year i stumbled upon the BBC series Sherlock and was instantly intrigued. I love detective stories like Miss Marple and Sherlock Holmes so i gave it a shot. And thank god for that! I absolutely loved it. The episodes that lasts 90 minutes keeps you glued to the television. It's fun to see the modern day Sherlock use the internet, smartphones and gps to solve crimes and find clients.

Sherlock, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, is again a genius that works and thinks at his own beat. He is a little bit social impaired and that shows in his lack of friends but it can also cause some funny moments. Dr. Watson, played by Martin Freeman, is the right Watson for Benedict's Sherlock. Freeman's Watson is loyal, take's Sherlocks shit, loves him (as a friend) but also get's annoyed by Sherlock. He keeps Sherlock grounded and actually help his career.

Steven Moffat, also know as head writer of Doctor Who, and Mark Gatiss, writer but also plays Mycroft Holmes, really out done themselves with this adaptation to a modern-day version. With the third season already confirmed by Moffat and Gatiss I cant wait till 2013. So if you like puzzles, Sherlock Holmes and crime series you definitely have to check Sherlock out!moreless

Sherlock is a refreshing, intelligent and entertaining series... Revolving around holmes and watson in a modern day setting, the series is an intelligent take on the classic works of Sir Arthur Canon Doyle. The first series exhibited great writing from steven moffat and was aptly acted by benedict cumberbatch and martin freeman. And I particularly loved the pilot and the way the story was built keeping viewers hooked until the resolution. And i like the fact that watson is portrayed more of a companion to Holmes rather than a simpleton as in many adaptions on screen. Really hope that sherlock keeps on delivering quality episodes in future and by the looks of things season 2 will be based on some of the classic stories of Sir Arthur Canon Doyle including my favorite Hounds of Baskerville... Cant wait for series 2..moreless

What many people seem to forget is that Sherlock Holmes isn't about the silly outfits, top hats, lanterns and pipes - its about gripping adventures and mind boggling mysteries and puzzles! You don't need to have a setting in the Victorian Era to get those right. That's the idea behind this re-imagining of the classic tale in modern times. So far, so good. What is truly wonderful about the update is that you can see the touch of true, loyal fans all over it. It's been handled with great care and respect to the original in its innovations and changes. Benedict Cumberbatch makes a wonderful Holmes and is just a joy to watch, while Martin Freeman compliments him with a wonderful performance as Watson. The two have great chemistry and are brilliant actors. You don't have to be familiar with the original tales or to know anything about Sherlock Holmes to watch this and still like it (I actually started reading the books BECAUSE of the show), which is another huge plus. All and all, a spectacular show with only a few minor quibbles here and there (the first two episodes overstayed their welcome with their total runtime) that is a must for fans of Sherlock Holmes everywhere.moreless
