I'm still recovering from last night, what a fantastic episode! What did you think about it? Leave your thoughts below... The only thing I can fault the episode on is the over-reliance on modern technology.

I didn't mind the technology..there was still enough combining and deducting going on to satisfy me...

I had to laugh at the end because it reminded me a lot of Princess Bride

I've never seen Princess Bride but I thought some bits were a lot like that Luther episode with the taxi driver!

i really liked a study in pink, it was unexpected (wasn't really aware they were even working on this) but extremely satisfying.

i also thought about princess bride till it was clear *spoiler* that the killer was already dying*spoiler*.

i even thought it would have been a great reference for Holmes to make, like a way of telling us that he watches movies in this day and age.

another great point was the Moriarty cover up. i mean how many of you didn't think Watson was being bribed by the evil mind himself?, i thought that kind of unconsequential misdirection was very true to Conan Doyle.

if you're a fan of the books, which other stories (besides a study in scarlet obviously), would you like to see twisted into the new era? (i know i could find info about the next two episodes, but i prefer to be surprised). Me? i would like to see something like the hound of the Baskervilles, just to see how they would handle it.

It was THE BEST. I really love the Watson character and his reactions to the insane world of Holmes. I think the scene with the phone and Holmes telling him about his...er....sister didn't really have to be there but I guess it's meant for the people who don't really know much about Holmes. The conversation is taken almost exactly from the book only it was a watch. I hoped they would modify it a bit, give a bit more detail since a phone holds way more clues than a watch and with the increased number of variables modern day brings, some of his deductions could have been off(and btw, who engraves a phone?).

Also the homosexual jokes could have been toned down a bit. It's kind of sad that two men can't be seen together without people jumping to conclusions. I hope that these were just in the first episode in order to establish their relationship and that with time the homosexual jokes will be reduced or even gone.

However, the characters were interesting, especially Mycroft going 007 on Watson. Holmes is the arrogant know-it-all that we love from the books. Watson is hilarious and a good partner for Holmes(Can you imagine the Christmas dinners? Ye...no, god no!) and the leg problem reminds me of House. Lestrade was good(I can't really remember much of him from the books) and his surrender to Holmes's antics was a plus. Him telling Anderson to turn around to allow Holmes to think was a great moment.

I can't wait to see the version of the Baker street irregulars and dare I say it....Irene Adler? I hope she will appear soon(though not as a main character) I'm not sure if I want to see her in only one episode or say...once every seven episodes. That will be enough to entertain the audience without giving her more importance than necessary. Oh, and Moriarty sounds interesting. Looks like he will be a big bad of the show and his role will be bigger than that in the books. I will wait and see how it plays out.

I hope they show A Scandal in Bohemia soon.

I really thought at first that Mycroft Holmes was Moriarty until it was revealed at the end that he was Mycroft, Sherlock's brother. In fact, I didn't know Sherlock had a brother until I watched this episode. I thought this was a really good episode and can't wait for this Sunday to see the next one.

Did Sherlock say at the end that he didn't know who Moriarty was?

I enjoyed it. Don't mind it being modernised. Why not? It works really well. I think the leaps Sherlock makes are too extreme sometimes but hey, there are very clever and observant people in the world. martin Freeman was terrific and I normally hate Benedict C but he was a revelation in this role - born to play it.

I think the mystery needs to be stronger than this one was. Not sure if Steven M just isn't clever enough to come up with a crafty plot. I hope it's turns out to be more substance than style in future. But I'll definitely keep watching.

The pilot episode was surprisingly good. I loved the dialogues. I loved the case. I loved the ending of the episode. And the music fit in well. Definitely looking forward to more

Fantastic show. Witty, clever and comprehensible. Nothing was unexplainable and the relationship between Holmes and Watson was spot-on!
