Season 1 Episode 9

I'm With the Band

Aired Sunday 4:00 PM Oct 26, 2003 on TELETOON

  • Trivia

    • When Shade and Marina fly into the cabin and land they are covered in snow. In the next scene the snow is gone even though they apparently don't brush all of it off.

    • When Goth and Throbb were spotted by Shade after pulling the human echoprojection, Goth had Throbb's body structure.

    • After dodging the airplane, Frieda, Bathsheba, Ariel and Chinook hang together on a radio antenna. When the camera angle changes, Ariel and Chinook have been replaced by three generic Silverwings.

    • In the scene with the bats hanging on the radio antenna, right before the camera angle changes, the fur around Ariel's neck and shoulders is white and Marina is accidentally drawn right above Frieda.

  • Notes

    • In the German edition of the show, this episode was titled "Der Ring."

    • Scirocco's colony is basically the same as a cult. It is made up of bats who are outcasts and desperately seek a purpose to give meaning to their lives. Scirocco gives them that meaning by saying they have been chosen to one day turn into humans.

    • While Shade did leave Marina with the other banded bats in the novel she later left the other banded bats to follow Shade as he was the only one who had befriended her despite her band. A similar event occurs in the show as Marina tries (and is not allowed) to leave the other banded bats when they try to make her reject Shade because he is not banded.

    • "Winter", "Transformation", and part of "Wolf Ears" were the chapters of the book that were featured in this episode. The resolution is different from in the series. Shade leaves Marina with Scirocco, Penelope, and the other banded bats.

    • Both of the human images projected by Scirocco and Shade have pointed ears, just like a bat's.

    • The only episode in the first season that actually shows humans on screen, although they are just echoprojections.

    • The games for this episode on are "Wolf Ears Sound Map" and "Up and Away".

    • This is the first, and last appearance of Scirocco.

    • Shade knew Scirocco's human was an echoprojection because he saw the same image on an old cereal box in the cabin.
