In this episode, the Simons stumble into a case from the past because of a returned letter, mailed from their business office address years ago, which referred to a murder. High points include the scenes in which the brothers scam Myron into taking over a repo job, the way that they worm their way into the suspect's house by delivering a singing telegram, and their black bag job that ends up stumbling into a surprise party.

Janet takes on much of the leg work for this case, and, unfortunately, the Simons don't do a good job of paying back the favors that they owe her. They also turn down the payment that the victim's daughter offerstheir chivalry seems to get in the way of AJ's good business sense.

    Miscellaneous points:

Whoever came up with the company name for Mr. Blandings Dream Boats is obviously a fan of the movie "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream

From the returned envelope, we can see that the Simon & Simon office is at 14708 Chula Vista Drive.

During the chase scene, we see a restaurant called the Villa De Guere, named for the creator of the show, Philip De Guere.

The room with a spiral staircase to a round foyer is one we'll see again in the show.

AJ: Too bad he won't talk to us.

Janet: That's what you get for being disreputable.

Rick: Hey, hey, don't go throwing around wild accusations like that!

    AJ: Thank you.

    Rick: I am.

  • Burgers vs. Tacos!

Burgers vs. Tacos with competitions, murders, and TWO women drooling over AJ but none for poor Rick. Funny when the brothers break into the supposed murderer's house and Rick says there's someone else in the room with us AJ and the lights suddenly come on and a whole crowd is around them singing Happy Birthday! Talk about a surprise! lol! Such a close call in the end to prove the murderer did it. They're just about to be arrested breaking and entering once again when Rick pulls the rabbit out of the hat or so to say gun out of the brick fireplace!moreless
