Episode Summary

Out of the Woods
Shot in the head by a carjacker she confronted, Teddy appears at first to be only minimally injured. But she soon lapses into a coma, to the distress of her family. While Teddy's loved ones hold vigil, her unconscious mind wanders to the memory of a family camping trip she took as a child.

The girls get lost in the woods and must struggle to get back to their family. In real life, Alex hears about Dr. Gabriel Sorenson, a brilliant doctor who specializes in head wounds like Teddy's, and contacts him, convincing him to take Teddy's case.moreless

    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (3)

      • The ending of this episode does NOT show Teddy waking up. It only shows, in Teddy's mind, her younger self, as well as the younger Georgie & Alex, finding their way out of the woods. Of course, this implies Teddy WILL wake up from her coma.

      • In this episode, Brian says he's 24 years old. Based on the previous episode where he describes his father killing himself, that would make him 14 at the time of his father's suicide. Brian said he and his mother had watched Back to the Future while his father killed himself, and that movie came out in 1985, ten years prior to when this episode aired.

      • Instead of starting with the usual sauna scene, this one starts with the family rushing Teddy to the hospital.

    • QUOTES (2)

      • Georgie's monologue to Teddy, while Teddy is in a coma:

Georgie: I don't know if you can hear me, but I hope you can, for my sake. There's a couple of things I need to tell you:

I'm so mad at you! How can you have done something so stupid and so arrogant? As it turns out the only person you hurt is yourself… and us! So don't ask me to forgive you, because I wont!

And I wanted to tell you that I'm praying for you. It's a big deal for me, not that I don't believe in a higher power - I just don't think he believes in us. But on the outside chance it will do some good, I'm doing it.

Oh, and one last thing. Do you remember what mom used to say?

        "Children grow up,

        Men leave, parents die,

The ones that are there for you, from cradle to grave -

        Are your sisters."

I used to think it was some kind of hokey things you sew on a pillow that eventually collects dust. But it's more then that, it's the truth. You cant die, Teddy and make mom a liar. I cant imagine my life without you. You've been there since they day I was born, so don't leave me now…

      • Teddy: I could make a fortune designing hospital gowns that cover your butt.

    • NOTES (4)

      • Amazingly, it was Alex is the one who found Dr. Gabriel Sorenson - and not Charlie, who is a doctor. You would think she would have some kind of connections or would have thought of his name first.

      • When asked the date, Teddy actually says "September 30th" - which is the date this show aired originally. Which is unusual for shows.

      • Brian confesses his love for Georgie, while she's asleep on his couch.

      • I find it a little untrue to character that during the whole time Teddy is on the hospital, Frankie is nowhere to be found. I know she left the show, but they don't even mention calling her and informing her about Teddy's situation.
