I thought Sit Down, Shut Up showed a lot of promise. The characters that made up the staff of the school were diverse and peculiar, and their interaction with the children and each other created many very funny moments. The combination of true to life scenarios mixed with the completely surreal gave the show a unique feel as well. It was a shame that it wasn't picked up for a 2nd season, as by the end of the 1st all of the "new show" kinks had been ironed out and it had really found it's stride. A criticism I had was the studio audience and the annoying laugh track. I think the show would have been better served going with more of a documentary "fly on the wall" style, similar to Frontline or the Office. All up though I thought it was a good effort, and I had many big laughs.moreless
  • A show that could have both good moments and bad moments

    5.3
This was a somewhat half baked Australian TV show that only have a fairly short life....I'll admit that it wasn't the worst show to be aired...but certainately not the best. There were some funny episodes and interesting someinteresting characters which made it the kind of show you watch now and then when there's nothing better to do...had the show gone longer it may have put it's potential to better use....well it's abit late to know nowmoreless
  • Sit down, shut up was a TV comedy set around a group of mediocre high school teachers. Short lived and needed more time to mature.

    6.0
Sit down, shut up was a TV comedy set around a group of mediocre high school teachers that had big problems gaining respect from students and fellow members of staff. The program was a comical look at teachers and their inability to appear "cool" to anyone or find a life outside the school grounds.

The characters saw the teachers and principal often running the school more by accident then following any curriculum. The sports teacher was a wirey and strange looking character that often liked to pretend he knew alot about women. Of course, he didn't and would often get his advice from the schools equally dimwitted IT teacher.

The schools grounds keeper didn't say much and often appeared when staff members were in a conversation that had nothing to do with him. The principal would often bring the teachers in to councel them on issues that had occured often to make the situation even more disasterous.

All the teachers tried to relate to the students, but some were more successful than others. There was the sex maniac ladies man, the hot blond female teacher, the strange IT guy that offers useless advice, the P.E teacher that is most likely a virgin and often has strange gay tendencies and few other characters that I can't recall at this time.

The show was entertaining enough, but was written more for the networks teen fans. If the show was allowed one more season and developed for a more adult audience we may have seen this show last a few more years. Unfortunately, Australian television networks don't allow Australia content to develop and secure a fan base. In the end axing was inevitable.

Entertaining for a teenage audience or someone who can remember the useless teachers they had during high school.moreless

Fox announces date for Sit Down, Shut Up

Fox's Animation Domination Sunday block has been fairly steady over the past several years, with The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Family Guy, and American Dad! holding down the fort. But that's about to change with the addition of some new blood.
