I'm not sure but I don't think so. It was just a miniseries.

everyone's feeding it to the dogs... at this point, not sure. The average ratings are around 1.2-1.3M an episode. Whether that's good enough for MTV, not sure.

If you haven't already, watch the original version of Skins, it's in its 5th season.

well i dont know why they would keep it when so many were calling for it to be taken off the air if it was just for 8 eps. so i think itll be back

didnt they say something about it being a rotating cast? meaning changing characters every now and then

Well that "goodbye" happened at the end of the British series credits as well. And the British series changes the cast every 2 seasons, maybe the US version will be the same.

Snap! It got cancelled. On June 9, 2011, MTV announced that they would not renew Skins for a second season, with a statement that "Skins is a global television phenomenon that, unfortunately, didn't connect with a US audience as much as we had hoped"

No they're not doing more seasons, unfortunately. It has nothing to do with the viewers numbers which were decent. It was the sponsor boycotts & bad publicity that did the show in. The uproar over the "Chris" ep really is what killed it.

Dear god, people, just watch the real version from the UK. It's streaming on Netflix. The American show, I wouldn't even watch it after I heard it was coming out as the UK show is just that good. So, seriously, since you are never going to get your American version, just watch the one on Netflix and see the better version of this show.

I see, You have never SEEN a minute of the American version but you have no problem trashing something you have never watched. I saw a little of the Brit version ( they showed an episode here b4 the American version started) and I did not like it.

The Canadian version -- it's what I call it, because it was filmed right here in Toronto -- was crap, the original British version is so much better!

They went as far as they could in the US, considering the laws are different here than in Britain. You Brits don't realize that here 16 year olds are legally children, and are treated as such. The big uproar isn't about what was shown but that they used real 16 year old actors. A lot of parents groups were upset about MTV using real 16 year olds with all the sex, drugs & drinking, here they usually use young looking 21 year olds to portray teens in scenes like that. They organized sponsor boycotts and letter/e-mail campaigns against the program. Also MTV got in a LOT of legal trouble for showing that boys butt (and his erection) in the ep "Chris." Here you can't show nudity if the person is under 21, it's considered child porn. I believe the network was fined a lot of money.

So the American version did the best they could & actually pushed the envelope doing stuff they got in trouble for.

Do you even know what you're talking about? You can do nude scenes in movies if you are 18 years of age or older, there have been some exceptions to that rule, Thora Birch for example was almost 17 when she showed her breasts in "American Beauty", and back in the '70s & early to mid-'80s, people under 18 could do certain nude scenes, as there wasn't really a "law" in place for that then.

Do YOU know what you're talking about? Those are MOVIES. And what were they rated? The FCC has television operating under CONTENT RESTRICTIONS because it comes into peoples homes not into theaters. In theaters they restrict by age who get inside to see the movie. American TV has some of the most stringent anywhere. Robert Thompson, a professor of popular culture and television at Syracuse University: "this country's obsession with not uttering naughty words and not talking about s-e-x is borderline psychotic. Strike that,it is psychotic." You cannot show a naked juvenile on American TV, unless you want the authorities knocking at your door. It's ILLEGAL.
