I liked the show but I haven't seen the original, I will leave it as that.

Skins is based on student between the ages of 15 to 18 who have the option of freedom (getting a job) or continuing on with education. The US do not have this option because they're still obligated to finish high school up until the age of 18. Also the legal age of consented sex and smoking in England is 16... in America it's 18 and still is very much frowned on by parents!

ABSOLUTELY WRONG ON EVERY AGE. 1) You can sign yourself out of school without your parents permission at 16. You are NOT legally obligated to finish High School. 2) the age of consent for sex varies from state to state (there is no national law) from 15 to 17. In some states a kid can get MARRIED at 15. 3)The age to buy tobacco products here is 21 not 18. That is also the legal drinking age. Both restrictions are openly ignored almost everywhere.

Next time check your facts. Almost everything you wrote is incorrect.

I agree with all of this. ^
One of the greatest things about Skins is that it has so much English culture. It's part of why the dialogue is so great. Gah.

Also, does it annoy anyone else that on TV.com now the original Skins is "Skins (UK)" where as this new Skins gets to be called just "Skins"? In my opinion, the original show should get the keep the name without any add-ons, and the American one should be "Skins (USA)". TV.com... I am disappoint.

lol i just noticed that too about the english version getting the UK stamp when i searched this show i was like....hmmm well thats weird.
