The Shohoku team came back from Josei with a record of 1 win, 1 loss, and 1 draw. Sakuragi had worked hard to improve his skills. Though it seems his hard work caused his basketball shoes to tear. He goes out with Haruko to get new ones. After telling a story of his past basketball life, the owner of the shoe store gave Sakuragi his shoes. Rukawa is working hard in the gym, as well as everyone else. Shohoku can only go up from this point on.
The lack of Sakuragi's gang results in a mediocre episode not about basketball. The owner's flashback did provide some interest, though I found myself sagging on my chair, since it wasn't enough to really keep my attention.moreless
