Slapstick Encyclopedia

Show Summary

Slapstick Encyclopedia is a hilarious eighteen-hour compilation of fifty early comedic films that date from 1909 to 1927. The digitally remastered movies showcase legends of the silent screen era, such as Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, Sid Smith, Buster Keaton, Fatty Arbuckle, Oliver Hardy, Stan Laurel, Ben Turpin, Victor Moore, Billy Bletcher, and other vaudeville stars. The five discs in the compilation are chronological, with ten volumes of laugh-out-loud material: "In the Beginning: Film Comedy Pioneers"; "Keystone Tonight: The Mack Sennett Comedies"; "Sennett in the Twenties"; "Funny Girls: Genders and their Benders"; "Keaton, Arbuckle, and St. John"; "Hal Roach's All-Star Comedies"; "Hal Roach: The Lot of Fun"; "Chaplin and the Music Hall Tradition"; "The Race Is On"; and "Tons of Fun: The Anarchic Fringe." With hilarious disguises, car chases, pie fights, fun musical accompaniments, and plenty of clever gags, this is one collection that any fan of classic slapstick comedy can't afford to miss!
