I showed a bootleg copy of this episode to my political science class ( I teach State and Local government). It was excellent! The script was very well written, the camera work ( especially in the committee hearing scenes) was good., and the acting was superlative. The show was especially relevant nowadays, in light current debates about education. The episode was clearly on the "liberal" side of the fence, but it was never heavy handed or preachy.
Crenna was very good. He portayed Slattery not as a plaster saint, but asa sharp-witted, eloquent and resourceful politician with an ironic wit. Another thing I liked about this episode is that it showed people wrestling with serious political and ethical issues.moreless
