This is one of the few episodes of this criticaly acclaimed, but almost forgotten series, that exists outside of the CBS vaults. There is a copy at t he UCLA archives, and (apparently) one at the Library of Congress. Slattery dispatches one of his troubleshooters, Stu Burns, played by the great Warren Oates, to infiltrate a John Birch like Vigilante group led by a retired Admiral played by Lloyd Nolan. The episode was nominated for an emmy but lost out ( I think) to an episode of The Fugitve. I can only pray Retro TV gets around to showing this after they go through all their Route 66 episodes. One things almost certain. The powers that be at CBS have forgotten the show. Who cares if it was Richard Crenna's greatest series?moreless
