It's time again for the Golden Globes! While the Oscars focus on film and the Emmys stick to the small screen, the Golden Globe Awards manage to cover the best of both worlds. Each year, members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association--a group of respected journalists who bring Hollywood news to the rest of the world--vote on the finest offerings from movies and television. The results are announced in one of the most highly anticipated TV events of the year. TV viewers who don't subscribe to Showtime Networks will be able to enjoy its premium cable content on demand, thanks to a deal that makes nonbroadcast television available on iTunes for the first time.
Sleeper Cell, Weeds, and Fat Actress are the initial programs included in the deal, which was announced Tuesday by Apple Computer and the CBS Corp.-owned channel. Viewers will be able to choose any or all episodes from the first episode in each series.
There was no magic formula behind selecting those current and previous-season programs, Showtime Networks chairman Matthew Blank said. "We decided based on rights issues, a mix of programming types and things we thought people would be interested in," he said. "This is the grand experiment, really."

The exponential growth of podcasting is due to both professional and grassroots program creators. Most recently, Showtime, Radio Disney, Fox Television, and Simon & Schuster have joined the household names who have embraced this new way of communicating with their audiences.
Showtime Networks is offering weekly podcasts that include interviews with series producers and stars. Interview subjects available at press time include Weeds stars Elizabeth Perkins, Tonye Patano, Justin Kirk, and Kevin Nealon and Barbershop: The Series stars Omar Gooding, Anna Brown, Leslie Elliard, and Barry Shabaka Henley.
Showtime Networks executive vice president Mark Greenberg said additional interviews with producers and actors from those shows are on their way. Podcasts also are being readied for the anthology series Masters of Horror, the third-season return of The L Word, and the upcoming dramas Sleeper Cell and Brotherhood.

The first 8 episodes will air Sunday – Wednesday in the 10:00PM – 11:00 PM time slot. Encore airings of the same episode will repeat Sunday – Wednesday at 11:00PM – 12:00AM. Thursday and Friday from 8:00PM – 10:00PM encore telecasts will air in two-hour, back-to-back blocks. Saturday, December 10 and Saturday December 17 a four-part ‘Sleeper Cell Mini-Marathon’ will air.
