This interview on MediaVillage.com with Showtime President Robert Greenblatt discusses the possibility for Sleeper Cell returning: http://blogs.mediavillage.com/ed_martin/.

EM: The second Sleeper Cell miniseries left the storyline open-ended. Is there any chance that you might find a way to wrap it up, maybe with a movie?

BG: We've talked about maybe in a year or so revisiting it and doing another installment of it, like they do with Prime Suspect. Every few years [Helen Mirren] comes back to do another installment.

Well first of all, the first season was good, had good parts. But in the 2:nd season, it felt like the main character almost provoked, all the situations they was getting themselves into. In Sweden the police don't work that way.

I don't know if I want this to happen or not. On one hand I absolutely loved both seasons of Sleeper Cell, and another season of it in the future I am sure would also be superb. However, on the other hand I believe that the second season of Sleeper Cell concluded the saga extremely well, as I felt like as negative as the finale was, it seemed clear that Darwin's storyline was over.

You're right that Darwin's role as an undercover has come to the end just as Farik's role changed in the second season. In the finale they were both left alive if only leave the option of a third season (or movie) where Darwin is the FBI's handler for a new undercover to make their into a new cell. As his new handler was the one who wanted him to be 'by the book' (of the FBI) whereas his cell needed him to be 'by the book' (of Jihad) since he became their leader to preserve his cover hence foiling the dirty bomb plot.

Just caught reruns of the final two episodes while in a state of insomnia and after watching them wandering about a third season it seems clear (to me anyway) how they set it up.

IMHO: Both Darwin and Farik are now poised to be the 'masterminds' behind each force and Illiad is now the one torn between the two sides (from his girlfriend and homecoming) as Darwin was torn after the first season by being forced back into the new cell.

Showtime seems to have good original programming/mini-series. I do understand the idea of 'leaving something at a high-point' because it is all downhill after that, but Sleeper Cell is just begging for a 3rd Season -- or at least a little wrap-up short season. Knowing how the 2nd series ended & where it left all of the major characters (or at least those that were still alive), I really need to know what happened with Darwin & Farik.

SPOILER WARNING for second season finale...

My only issue is that I, for one, was a believer that in that final scene that Darwin died. I know that seems to be a push, but that is the only reason I am concerned about its return... plus Darwin would not be able to realistically become a part of a new cell seeing Farik knows who he is.

Sleeper Cell is a great TV Show but is like other members here in TV.com said. Is a show with an openended. They need to come up with another season or a second part of season 2.

so still no word on a third season. How is this show compared to 24, Intelligence and Spooks, my favourite spy shows from US, Canada and the UK.

(GASP!) You can't say Spooks! That's racist! Which is why the wonderfully hilarious USA changed the series name to "MI-5".
