PHOTO RECAP: Sleepy Hollow "Necromancer": Time to Get Serious
theguylafayette

Just a quick note before we get into Sleepy Hollow. Some of you may also be following my photo recaps for Revolution, I wasn't able to get my recap of last week's episode up last week, but I will be posting it sometime Tuesday night so look for it Wednesday morning before the new episode airs that night. On to this post's ...

PHOTO RECAP: Sleepy Hollow "Sanctuary": The House in the Bottle
I have a few things that I would like to riff on this week, but I always feel like the parts where I take a second off to review/discuss things fit into the flow better once we hit the right part of the recaps so that the discussions are in context. With that in mind I want to jump straight in this week. (Quick sidenote - I was having some difficulties uploading png files this week so the images might not be great quality this week).

This week we started off with new character Elena Gilbert:

Ohhh, my bad actually ...Read more

PHOTO RECAP: Sleepy Hollow "John Doe": The Sixth Witness Sense
Wow, okay everybody that was an extremely solid episode of Sleepy Hollow. Since one of your favorite parts of the story each week has been Ichabod learning about the Modern Life I thought we would start off there really quickly before heading into the story, because boy this was a ...Read more

PHOTO RECAP: Sleepy Hollow "The Midnight Ride": Water Quality and Recaps
I'd just like to make a few general observations about this week's episode before diving into the recap. First off, let's all hope that Kaitlin had herself a gigantic laugh when Abbie named Ichabod as her disturbed cousin Steve as that has been her assigned nickname for the Headless Horseman. The mystery of Captain Orlando's origin was solved this week and all of my/our theories about his supernatural heritage proved to be false. THANKFULLY, and let's let out a HIP-HIP-HOORAY for this one everybody - Crappie was nowhere to be seen this week as Gabbie/Fabbie was out in force this week. Also, this was a banner week in Ichabod learning about the modern world - Buy Plus, bottled water, voicemail, car compactor, Paul Revere revisionist history, Thomas Jefferson actual history, the internet, internet porn, and UV light.

As far as my choice of title for ...Read more

PHOTO RECAP: Sleepy Hollow "The Sin Eater": A Sanctified Grimm
Sleepy Hollow is back ya'll! Boy have I missed this show, it's utterly ludicrous and ridiculous in all the right ways. Let's get started this week with a bit of a discussion about Abbie. I know that there are a lot of Abbie fans out there and quite a few Ichabbie shippers, but I have been struggling since Day 1 to like her character. I felt like the writers had started to right the ship a little bit in making her character feel like somebody I want to root for in the last two episodes, but this week was a case of one step forward, two steps backward for me.

It all started at the beginning of the episode where Abbie and Ichabod were spending some quality time together. Naturally, Abbie was haranguing the umpire, because we were back to:

What does Crappie mean, I hear you ...Read more

PHOTO RECAP: Sleepy Hollow "The Lesser Key of Solomon": When Sisters Collide
This week we started off with a short flashback with Ichabod to a time when he was part of a mission to steal some new weapon from the British prior to the start of the Revolutionary War. Ichabod wanted to be a part of the action, but George Washington had left specific instructions that Ichabod should be protected at all costs.

Luckily for Ichabod this meant that he was outside the blast radius that took out the rest of his group when a Hessian clearly speaking about demon type things lit up a bomb and killed himself. Cut to the ...Read more

PHOTO RECAP: Sleepy Hollow "For the Triumph of Evil": #TEAMJENNY
This week I came into the episode with my expectations properly adjusted for the type of show Sleepy Hollow intends to be (aka a mix of Supernatural/Grimm). I have plenty to say about where I stand this week, but I think the tenor of some of my recap will let you know how I feel about some of the latest developments so let's begin.

This week we started out with a dream sequence that I truly enjoyed (when was the last time a TV show actually pulled that trope off successfully?)

Abbie walked into the police station with Orlando Jones (whose name I dont think has actually been used beyond calling him Captain - we are 3 episodes in and the 3rd guy in the credits list still hasn't had anyone say his name!)(Another side note - no Katrina this episode - boo). Anyway Abbie walked up to this ...Read more

PHOTO RECAP: Sleepy Hollow "Blood Moon": The Real Nightmare
Welllllll okay then. I'm not quite sure that I particularly enjoyed the direction that the second episode of Sleepy Hollow seemed to indicate that the show would be following, but I'll get to that later. For now, let's get to the story:

This week's episode opened with an obvious dream sequence with Ichabod running through a forest trying to escape the four horseman (if you had less than 60 minutes into the show as the point at which another or even all 4 horseman would appear, congratulations you won your Sleepy Hollow pool). Clearly, Sleepy Hollow ...Read more

PHOTO RECAP: Sleepy Hollow "Pilot": Allow Me To Introduce Myself
Debuting this week is Sleepy Hollow's pilot episode. Of all the dramas debuting this year, I think I am correct in saying that this is the show with the potentially highest ceiling and lowest low. In other words every other new drama is fairly safe with a very clear premise that we have seen in some form before. Sleepy Hollow on the other hand has been very murky on what exactly this show is going to be about. With that being said, I have been on board with checking this show out from day one. So let's get started.
Starting off with a flashback we are introduced to our first hero Ichabod Crane fighting in the midst of a battle in the Revolutionary War. Unfortunately he comes to a bloody end due to the battle prowess of this fellow:

However, Ichabod was able to match the Horseman's ...

Sleepy Hollow: "The Indispensable Man" Season Finale Part 1 (PHOTO RECAP)
First off - anything I do stands several notches underneath the reviews of Kaitlin. And down the next notch from what theguyLafayette occasionally does. But since Guy hasn't had a chance to do it and in light of the fact I am avoiding a new work search like the plague...I thought I would put a photo recap together for my favorite show of the new television season. Funny. Creepy. Rooted in revolutionary war history. Pulled from a legendary short story and placed in today. Revelations mixed with revolution. Time travel. *huff huff...sorry...out of breath*. Two amazing leads with chemistry in spades... Ok I'll stop. I'm just making an ass out of myself.

So here you go. In tribute to my favorite show of the fall and to you fans here at TV.COM, I offer you my photo review with as little words possible. May ...Read more

Ichabod Crane
Lt. Abbie Mills
Captain Frank Irving
Katrina Crane
Jenny Mills

This is a modern day twist on Washington Irving's classic in which Ichabod Crane, resurrected 250 years in the future, pairs up with a present-day cop, Lieutenant Abbie Mills, to save the town of Sleepy Hollow from unparalleled evil. With Ichabod's extensive first-hand knowledge of this country’s hidden history and Abbie’s superior profiling and modern threat assessment skills, the two make an awesome team.

Ichabod realizes early on that stopping his formidable foe, the Headless Horseman, is just the beginning, and he is but the first of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Clues from past mysteries enlighten the present as each episode features a flashback to Ichabods's 1776 life. The stories are shrouded in American history and mythology. Besides his own, another life in the balance is Ichabod's late wife, Katrina, who has become trapped in a type of netherworld. In order to save her, all he can do is gather the secrets he finds about her.

Part of Ichabod's new life is Captain Frank Irving who doesn't always believe Ichabod's tales of 1776 but when bizarre events unfold that can't be explained, Irving grudgingly hands over the cases to Ichabod and Abbie.
