    For this thread, let's ignore chronology. What episodical characters or beings from the show would you be glad to see replacing Maggie as a memeber of the sliders, whether from the very start, thus eliminating that nuiciance entirely, or from any point where you feel she has become aspecially unbearable?

    Some of mine:
    Alessandra {kitty lady from "This Slide of Paradise"}
    Flamegirl {aka Flameboy, living flame from "The Fire Within"}
    Triator couple {mated pair of sentient, hivemind snakes from "Slither". I'm sure communication could be established}
    Malcolm {Remi's son-figure from "Exodus" and "Dinoslide"}
    Rikman, from before the change {from "Exodus". Much better than the changed version, and still better than Maggie}
    ARTURO! {!!!}

    What are yours?

    When I saw the name of the topic, the first thing that jumped into my head was "a rock." The Sliders could pick it up from any world, and while it wouldn't be able to provide any smarmy comments like the rest of the group, it would be more than capable of holding open doors so the others could pass through. They could say things like, "Okay Rock, we're going to save this dimension from complete destruction. We need you to stay in the hotel room and guard the timer."

    Indeed. Bekket would either go after them inspite of the orders, leaving the timer unattended, or just get distracted by taking clothes off, while someone steals it from right under her bloated... nose.

    Well, that's not really adding anything to the rock idea.
    So, how about things other than inanimate objects? Preferably ones that have appeared in the show.

    A wall, a tin of paint and a paint brush, because watching paint dry was better than M. Bekket

    After rewatching Season 3, there were a couple of prime candidates that jumped to mind:

    Malcolm (already mentioned, but he could handle himself really well)
    Becky (from "Sole Survivors"), even if she managed to lose her weapon in her first encounter and got captured, she was still better than Beckett.
    Allesandra (from "This Slide of Paradise"), because you never know when a hybrid will come in handy.

    Maybe a stripper X with poor acting skills.

    Here's an example

    Quin : we have to reduce our weight before sliding this time. X : no problem.

    Kromagg officer : Where did you hide the timer. X : not here (pointing to her clothes)

    On a hot desert world. X : alright i'm taking off my watch.

    How about Taryn from Dead Man Sliding or the girl from Paradise Lost or Logan St Clair. Though bringing Maggie onboard did make sense, they were looking to make the show more action orientated and they felt correctly that wade wouldnt have been able to handle that perhaps.

    Ok, I hated Maggie at the start too. But she really did add a not so nice element to the show that it lacked. Some better acting might have been nice, but Sliders needed Maggie.

    Derek Bond. I mean, think about it. He could have given the Kromaggs a taste of their own medicine.

    Here, here! Maggie was great and a breath of fresh air.

    While the show didn't exactly need her, she still rejuvinated the show after joining, especially S4.
