  • Quinn, Arturo and Rembrant are in demand when they arrive on a world with a male population shortage.

    8.0
The sliders arrive on a world where a biological weapon has reduced the male population so much that men are captured and forced into breeding camps in order to stop the population crisis.

The sliders find nothing wrong with this world at first and are happy for the female attention in the world dominated by women.

But their paradise soon becomes their hell when they find out that the reality for the men on this world is forced breeding and imprisonment. And as men they are soon picked up and taken to one of the centres.

Parted from Wade they know that they have to escape the centre or remain on this world for the next 29 years. Joining forces with a young man who wishes to escape to be reunited with his partner they make a run for it but are separated once again before the slide.

Quinn finds himself being cared for by a woman who lost her husband to the virus.

Arturo is captured by the Australians who wish to enlist him in their breeding programme.

And it is for Wade and Rembrant to stage a rescue that will reunite them all in time for the slide. Wade, played expertly by Sabrina Lloyd, comes through in her own unique style and pulls off the rescue in just the nick of time.

A fast paced episode with a rather bittersweet ending where we see that Quinn might have left a legacy on this world in thanks for having his life saved.

The only thing I quibble over for this episode is that for some reason there is no problem with all four sliders, two companions and a van going through the vortex, something that would normally be seen as impossible under the usual scientific explanations of how many people can travel through the wormhole. This was conveniently glossed over here though it did not detract too much from the episode.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Trivia: Rhys-Davies refused to be filmed with his shirt off (for personal reasons), so the steamroom scene was shot with him completely covered.

  • QUOTES (9)

    • Arturo: (After Sliding) Do you realize we always seem to land on something hard?
Quinn: Don't complain, Professor. Next time it could be spikes.

    • Arturo: Gentlemen, we've made a Slide to heaven.

    • Arturo: Lucky? Allowing an idiot like that to breed at that rate could set your civilization back ten thousand years.

    • Arturo: (to Quinn) You'd last out there about as long as a pork chop in a pool of piranha.

    • Detective: Well, I hope you enjoyed your stay.
Arturo: Frankly, madam, I would have sooner had my liver eaten by a vulture.

    • Quinn: Are you all right, Professor? You're looking a little green.
Arturo: I have just had a disgusting protein drink thrust down my throat by a female Amazon. I tell you, any fantasies I may ever have about nurses have been dispelled forever.

    • Rembrandt: Well, things look kind of normal.
Arturo: Yes, well it often looks normal, but it's just madness underneath.

    • Wade: What if I can get you Trevor Grant?
      Cop: Get in the car.
Wade: Listen to me, who's gonna mean more to your handlers back in Canberra? A national treasure or an American transvestite and overweight Englishman?
      Rembrant: Oh, man, that's cold!

    • Arturo: What's going on here? (Sees Wade driving) What the devil?!
Wade: Distributor wire! This baby's a rental.
      Rembrandt: You are unbelievable girl.
Wade: Oh yeah? Tell that to the rent-a-car place. They're gonna slam my credit when this thing doesn't come back.
