  • Trivia

    • When Lois punches Clark to destroy the pizza boy's phone, you can clearly see that the phone is off before it is even smashed.

    • Just before Lois is abducted, she is leaning against the alleyway wall on her right side. Later when Chloe shows Clark the video footage from above, Lois is leaning against the wall on her left side.

    • The two scenes of Lois coming out of the cake that are supposed to be the same scenes are clearly different. In the first one, she puts her hand on her hip then her hand under her chin and then blows a kiss. In the second one, she wraps her hand around her waist and blows a kiss straight away.

  • Quotes

    • Tess: The Kandorians? You'll see Chloe, they're better as allies than enemies. Clark gets that. Why don't you and Oliver?
Chloe: Clark optimistically thinks that Zod will be happy wearing an apron and slinging coffees. We don't. Especially, now that he has powers.
Tess: We? As in you and Green Arrow? Chloe, I get what you see in your heroes. But what do they see in you?

    • Stern: Let me guess. You two have a lovers' spat?
Lois: Clark and I don't spat. There was no spatting.

    • Lois: Chloe, can you believe it? I'm early.
Chloe: No, Lois, "early" is when you arrive at your destination by a set time. Not when you can see it from seven blocks away.

    • Chloe: Hey! Do you ever check your voicemail?
Clark: Looks like someone missed breakfast in bed with Oliver this morning.
Chloe: I'm not here to talk about my love life.
Clark: That makes two of us.

    • Chloe: Tess. I thought you were supposed to be underground. You know, if you're having a hard time finding your way there, I'm sure I could help.

    • Maxwell Lord: Even unconscious... her mind protects memories of you.
Clark: Maybe (Lois) doesn't have any.
Maxwell Lord: Or maybe the connection between you two... is stronger. Stronger than the fear that binds you with the others. Stronger... because of love.

    • Lois: (to the Blur) You're here. I--I can't know who you are. I'd give anything to see your face... to know your name. But you can't protect us if we know who you are. I understand that now.

  • Notes

    • Callum Blue and Justin Hartley are credited but don't appear.

    • Injoke: One of the criminals that was released from prison, Rick DeGroot, is named after the show's assistant accountant, Ric De Groot.

    • Maxwell Lord
Maxwell "Max" Lord first appeared in Justice League #1 (May 1987). An enigmatic multi-millionaire and financier, Lord secretly funded Justice League International, helping it to gain support from the UN. Lord used a number of shady means to achieve his ends and later gained the superhuman ability to influence minds. he was later revealed as working for a villainous group, Arcana, that were behind at least one incarnation of the Royal Flush Gang. Lord was dying of brain cancer and transferred his consciousness into a robotic body. Since then, he regained a human body, joined Checkmate, and used his powers to turn Superman into a killer. Realizing there was no way to stop him short of murder, Wonder Woman broke Lord's neck. As of the time this episode premiered, Lord had been resurrected by the White Lantern force for unknown reasons.

  • Allusions

    • Chloe: What is it exactly about a telescope that merits 76 trombones and a big parade?
Referencing the 1957 Broadway musical by Meredith Wilson, made into a movie in 1962. Con man Harold Hill rolls into the small town of River City, Iowa, and convinces the townsfolk to donate money so he can buy band instruments and uniforms. He has no intent of doing so, but falls in love with a librarian before he can flee with the money. The musical's signature song is 76 Trombones, with the line, "76 trombones led the big parade..."

    • Sacks: You're extracting their memories with this whole Jedi "mind control" thing.
Referencing the Jedi Knights seen in the Star Wars franchise movies. The Jedi have access to the Force, which allows them to manipulate the weak-willed by verbally telling them what to say and think. The command is typically accompanied with a wave of the hand. The best-known example is Obi-Wan Kenobi saying "These are not the droids you're looking for," and a stormtrooper repeating, "These are not the droids we're looking for.
