In this version of the Pilot, Clark's spaceship is significantly different. It looked something akin to a big black egg covered in saucer-sized scales covered in tar, with a removable top section.

In the unaired pilot the Kents notice the schoolkids celebrating an apparent victory, just like in the aired pilot. But the script is changed. In the unaired pilot Jonathan says, "Looks like Smallville finally won", whereas in the aired pilot he says, "Looks like Smallville won again." Apparently Smallville has a much better team now that Martha Kent is played by Annette O'Toole.

The original version also included some footage that was cut for length and had a lot more music than the version that aired.
