In season 5, Lionel Luthor looked like a good guy towards the end. I wonder if it'll be the same for season 6. Lex looks like his beginning his journey to the dark side.

Yea he definitely is and I think its kind of cool, went from straight up evil to wanting to save the world from destruction.

I'm sorry that they didn't have him in the last episode. He's one of my favorite characters on Smallville.

He's definitely the best contribution that Smallville has made to the Superman mythology as his character explains a lot of why Lex ends up the way he does.  Plus, John Glover chews up every scene he's in.

Well one reason why he was a good guy was, because Jor-El had connection to Lionels body.

He went from wanting Chloe dead to helping her and Clark uncover those Kryptonian symbols it was weird!
It seems Lex is on his way but he still doesn't want 2 kill Clark sooooooooooo whats going 2 make them mortal enemies like in the movies???

Naturally he is now. So that when Lex kills Lionel it will make it that much more an evil act. An unexcusable act that will complete the turnaround and make Lex a true supervillain (and probobly Clark a real superhero etc.) I assume Lionel will be dead by the end of the season in a heroic act of defience or some such thing.

I think something will happen to Lana while she's with clark or clark has something to do with ending the relationship between Lana and Lex and it will make Lex snap and then the gloves will be off. I do like the Lex we have been seeing lately more like the Lex we know and love.

Yes, I believe he is, thanks to Jor-El. Reminds me of Xena.

I have to admit that the main reason I watch smallville and have been watching is for the brilliant dialogue and performance of Lionel Luthor by John Glover. I get disappointed when he's not in an episode, even a minor scene with him somehow enhances the shows quality

like his appearances in the first half of season 5 were sometimes brief, but he was very impressionable and extremely tactful in his dealings with Lex. Sometimes it seemed like Lionel was actually getting through to Lex, (as a parent) because Lex was usually so quiet and resolved in those scenes. One of my favorite Lionel scenes in Season 5 was in "Splinter" after Clark's paranoid dilusions were stopped by Brainiac, Lionel pays Lex a visit at the Mansion. I thought Lionel's dialogue was well written and very honest, for once Lionel sounded like a typical father giving Lex advice and trying to make him understand that Lana could never love him , because at the end of the day she could "never trust you".

    ****A side Note****

How did Lionel find out about the whole paranoid Clark thing without Jor'El's influence and/or presence in him. Maybe Jor'El was monitoring Clark's actions through Lionel and Lionel was being informed of Clark's actoin through Jor'El during the course of season 5. They never mention how he knows about specific events in Clark's and Lex's lives, even when he wasn't present!

When Lionel was trapped in an elevator with Martha in season 5, it was the SAW episode. The scenes inside the elevator showed Lionel being heroic, it makes him really likable. Everytime he gets possessed by Jor-El also makes him look a very cool character.

Lionel is only likeable in that episode if you believe he didnt know the gun wasn't loaded (ie if you don't think he set the whole thing up). Anyone who was paying attention at the end of Sneeze would see Lionel Luthor trying to figure out what the Kyrptonian symobols he used to draw meant, and realizing one of them=power. I think he is trying to be good but has a dark side too. I have three rules when it comes to comic books and Lionel meets the criteria for at least one of them. There is a fourth onofical rule that is never trust anyone with the last name Luthor.

    1. Once a vilian always a vilian
    2. Real men wear tights
    3. Where there is power there must also be responsibility.

hmm i think lex quoted soemthing about this in the newest episode.

"...Your so absorbed in trying to convince the Kents that your a good guy... that your starting to believe it yourself."

    or something along those lines.

I just tuned back into Smallville this season, could someone give me a QUICK breakdown on how Lionel became this seemingly good guy? I know he was possessed by Jor-El for a while there...I was surprised (and confused) when I was watching this season to see Clark so open with Lionel. It seemed to me that Lionel knows Clark's secret? Is this correct?

    Thanks!

Yeah, Lionel got posessed when touching one of the stones and learned Clarks secret. Jor-El apparently influenced his actions and was like an oracle up until the season opener this year and that connection seems to be gone. Now with this episode we are left wondering if Lionel is truely evil or good? And if Lionel is truely evil how much does Lex know...

    *******************WARNING SPOILERS***************************

The CW official description for the season 6 episode "Fallout"

    http://www.kryptonsite.com/falloutdescription.htm

says that Raya will make an appearance once again in Smallville , however this time outside of the phantomzone.

According to some RUMORS! Raya will help Clark restore the Fortress of Solitude's power and Jor'El's Interactive Construct. Raya posesses a great deal of knowledge concerning Kryptonian Technology, because she helped Jor'El develop some of it.

    **********************************************************

What if after Raya helps restore the Fortress, Jor'El once again utilizes his connection to lionel. Or perhaps its possible that the Fortress will be somehow reset, like a computer thats been improperly rebooted and some memory loss occurs (God knows how often thats happened on Smallville).

Even though Lionel Luthor seems to becoming a good guy, Luthor Corp is still crooked.
